With just Smuck and I heading toward the danger, I felt a sense of insecurity mixing up with any remains of rational thought. It is not my faith that is weak, for the righteous will be the victors, but the inability to reason with this species. They might not listen to any words a human may speak, perhaps not even understand ...

We neared the temple, and made our appearance when all their weapons were aimed at me as we locked eyes. When Smuck spoke in a language I could not understand, I saw him move and wave his hands in my direction as to present me. I made sure to appear weakened, and even frightened of his presence, regardless of my well-kept equipment and shield positioned on my back. My hands tied only loosely in the rope he used.

A weak pull communicated to me to follow him, one I made appear much more vicious. The sounds I'd make need to signal these goblins my distress, and I managed to keep up much of it, enough for them to lower their weapon upon the masked leader's signal. A charismatic exchange began between both Smuck and their leader, Yokka, he is called, he said?

Countless of waving, and chatter to indicate the importance of their subjects, and the counting by fingers to present exactly the number nine. I did not quite understand.

(Yokka explained that the temple is dedicated to nine Gods, and there are many traps hidden inside that Dirtbrain(?), their companion, lost their life to. The goblins consider this hilarious. They want Streth to head in first to catch all traps in their place, but Smuck argues against it for being good food. The Goblins are convinced that Smuck is great for bringing them a treat: human flesh.)

I heard a noise in the distance. Movement of some sort, this could be just any animal or monster, but it could also be our companions. It attracted the attention of these Chultan goblins, but it appears like Smuck assured them that he will take care of them. The goblins lowered their weapons when Smuck cast a spell on himself to move at an incredible speed. At a distance, he threw a number of fireballs, and returned with his usual, smug expression. That was done, I believe? Perhaps it was a minor monster after all.

The other goblins cheered enthusiastically upon his return, and I managed to get out of the bushes when Smuck pulled on the rope once again. After having previously pushed me in. Once we reached the stairs, and I stumbled it up, Smuck spoke up again soon after the goblins made the room for us to move inside. They appear impressed with the words he spoke. And gestured around like he typically would when he speaks of his strange form of magic.

In return, Yokka, their leader, used that same motion to refer to this magic and gestured with his hands that made it appear bigger. A stronger magic? My eyes could barely keep up with their wild gesturing and the odd, enthusiastic speech. Then they fell silent, as if shaken by something big. Almost like they were forced to bow, they were frozen for a duration as Smuck resumed speaking. Then a pause followed, and so did their enthusiasm. They are eager about something, and I was forced in the center of goblins that all took a position around me by Smuck's command and Yokka's confirmation.

Their weapons were taken, first their short bow, then followed by their scimitar. He placed two short bows around me to form a circle by their shake, then handed me the scimitar and placed it uncomfortably between at my back. I decided not to move in any suspicious way. Smuck used some of their blades to carve arcane sigils in the dirt all around me. Yokka stood close to me, when he came from the temple's entrance to express his fascination for it. And when Smuck moved closer to me, he told me to spin in circles and to ask for help.

As told, I did exactly as requested. I spun in a circle and yelled help as well as I begged for mercy. May Helm have mercy on my soul for this. This deceptive behavior is not usually what I do, but in order to-

The goblins laughed and cheered, but that did not remain for long when the group appeared from behind the tent. One group locked eyes with Arden in the distance, but missed, and he was returned an arrow.

(The fake ritual was to make Streth's human flesh much more delicious at the potential cost of Yokka's army of sacrifices. Easily convinced, he merely asks if it will be funny or not. Smuck assured this, and by request he'd make especially green explosions come out as well. They were easily deceived by the mention of Smuck's great leader, who is a necromancer that seeks allies that he will make strong once they are under his command.

The ritual is intended to please the nine Gods, and various of specifics made Yokka upset, but he remained cooperative. Streth was required to be barefoot for the fake ritual, and the goblins needed to be positioned at specific locations. Some of their weapons were taken and used. The arcane sigils read only nonsense.)

The battle took place, and when victory appeared to be on our side, Yokka stepped back and reached for a horn which he blew. When the sound was heard, the ground suddenly began to shake.

Something big is coming ... Be on your guard!

We are waiting from a distance for the storm to clear. While we were waiting together, I picked up on a story which the people in our group were discussing. The people of Chult were reminded of a story upon closer inspection of the temple. Inete told the rest of us, outsiders, about it.

It is a children's tale in which a man wishes to cross the river and fears doing so. Many crocodiles have made the river their home. Then one of the crocodiles rises from the water and speaks to this man, asking what concerns him so. The man confessed that he wishes to cross the river safely, but he cannot, for the crocodile's brethren made it their home. This crocodile makes an offer to the man that he will ensure his safety to cross this river.

This man agrees, but it was accepted at the condition of the crocodile that he must return something for it, that this man hadn't asked about. As promised, the crocodile granted him the safety to the other side, but then made a similar request in return. He wishes to travel the land, but it is traveled and made home by the brethren of the man. He must carry him also, over the land. Not being able to decline, the man was burdened by the weight of the crocodile for years to come.

It is a children's tale that warns and instructs the young ones to be wary of the promises they make or will make in the future.

That temple appears to remind them of this tale's oath sworn between man and animal. I thought it was interesting, Smuck jokes about it, but Azaka warned him not to make any silly decisions to mimic the tale. She considers it just a stupid children's story. I find it quite inspiring ...

. . .

Time passed us (1 hour) and the skies above began to clear up, the dangerous wind turned into a breeze and rain continues to fall upon us. At the temple, we spotted movement that was finally easier to see. Four masked goblins came from inside to take their positions outside after having scouted the environment.

We discussed our upcoming plans related to it. Undril asked the people if these goblins are indeed dangerous. Taban told her that he was told by his parents, that if he would stray too far from home, that the goblins will eat him. And it was not much different from others. Azaka continuously warns us not to engage with their kind. They are a dangerous species. They are known for their intellectual minds and tricks. Their only goal is to consume our kind.

According to the position these goblins have taken, they have a leader giving them instructions. They are organized, which many goblins aren't known for, which may be an indication for an increased threat. This is where Smuck spoke up to the rest of the group. He claims to be an expert when it comes to goblins, and he may have his way with words to get more information out of them. Our main concern are the potential captives that they may hold inside. Undril is interested in speaking with them and to investigate the surroundings to learn more about the location. When Smuck explains more of his plan, he demands our choice of action before he will reveal some information.

Our decision was to ensure the safety of the people, for that reason, he chose to indeed make that reveal. Only at the condition that no weapons will be drawn and no fight be fought upon revelation.

He pulled me nearer and touched his artifact that undid his disguise. He no longer stands the height of a dwarf, instead, he stood the height of a goblin. This sight had especially Undril in rage. She accused each of us for traveling alongside his kind, and tossed countless of assumptions in each our direction. We assured her that he is a good man, regardless of race, and that she mustn't fear him. After a while of discussion, she gradually calmed herself down, and more of the plan is discussed and agreed on.

He would head there on his own, after we decreased the distance between ourselves and our foes. And so this plan was set in motion. We watched Smuck from afar as he made his way toward the group.

. . .

The goblins seemed wary at first, and had their bows aimed at him as they spoke, but they didn't shoot. One of them entered the temple to have another join them outside. He appears to be their leader. After their chat, Smuck returned to us and told us what happened.

He seemed enthusiastic about the group, but he made mention of a ritual. An ancient ritual. This leader is a seer of visions that he claims to be granted by all the Gods, not limited to goblin kind. He also confirmed that there are no humans inside, or so the goblins have claimed. They told Smuck that the undead drove them away in the direction of Camp Vengeance instead, and that they, the goblins drove these undead away to take over Camp Righteous.

While all we can do is to believe the words of a stranger, we have our answer. No hostages of human kind are inside. This appeared to be the end of it, regardless of the fact that the goblins expect Smuck to return. They need him to perform his part for the ancient ritual. The seer claimed to have seen Smuck in his vision, and so he is of great value to them. I wonder, however, if he has foreseen the plan Smuck has as well ...

Smuck got away by lying to the goblins that he buried his equipment in the ground, away from prying eyes and needs to reobtain them, which is why he could return to us. But he hadn't confirmed the numbers of goblins inside the temple

When I announced my concerns about the ritual and its consequences, I was told not to worry by Gat and the others. Rituals they happen everywhere, and there's no stopping them all. That much is true, I had confessed, however, I said to them that I worry about the location

A large temple that none of us holds knowledge about is something we must be concerned with. We do not know what they may do, and if it has anything to do with the death curse. What if it does? And these goblins are fooled to believe that they serve the Gods most divine in their mission?

What is suspicious as well, as previously discussed, is that he receives visions from all Gods. What if this temple enables the tribe's master this power? They might perform a dangerous ritual that might endanger us all, and to walk away from such danger leads to a path of misery and ignorance. In Helm's name, I mustn't let him down! We must investigate!

Undril shared my passion for this investigation, and Smuck came up with a new plan. He suggests to take me along as a hostage, to leave behind my weapon with those who remain behind for when they come to rescue me. By then, I could already be dead. But I agreed, for I must do my part to ensure the safety of the lands far beyond Chult. It is what I have sworn to do, to protect the people! I cannot face away when evil stands before me!

I let Smuck tie me in his rope, it was done lightly, so that I can escape its grasp with ease. He will also let Taban join. I fear that they may make us the enemy, but Smuck assured me that his presence will allow my weapon to be drawn sooner, for he will hand it to me. Together, we strike while the rest comes to our aid.

This task will be most dangerous, but I must hold faith. May Inete's prayers be heard by the Gods, and may our quest result in victory, rather than death. Perhaps an exchange of words can reason goblin kind.

We spent the rest of our day at the inn until nightfall came, Arden had started another map copy while the rest of us rested up in their own, unique way.

The next morning, we collected each our new companions to set course toward the south and follow River Soshenstar. We approached the patrol, when Undril seemed to reconsider her traveling gear. But a brief set of thoughts decided against the suggestion I made of visiting the markets for a change of armor.

With newfound determination, we made it past the checkpoint of the Flaming Fists that appeared most eager to see such a large and well equiped ground set food in their claimed terrain. Hoping for us to return with valuables for them to take. A kind greeting was given and returned when we headed back into the jungle.

Day 0: Insect repellant 61 -> 60, Incense 10/10

The humid air reminded us how nothing has changed since we last traveled it, and its heavy rain helped us remember just fine. Our less experienced travelers clearly struggled with it, I made it my quest to keep an eye on them and ensure they will be safe throughout it all. With two guides to ensure our path is correct, we had little to worry. The two of them took a leading position, followed by myself and the rest of the group, Taban at the rear. Our travel was uneventful.

Day 1
: Insect repellant 60 -> 59, incense 10/10

Mild change in weather was noticed, but no threat to be found. Mere discomfort in the loud surroundings.

Day 2: Insect repellant 59 -> 58, incense 10/10

The morning had a comfortable breeze and the absence of rain to help us regain some energy, for the change in weather to come. Without any rainfall, we had to extract water from the river we follow and boil it for consumption. Otherwise, no dangers found.

Day 3: Insect repellant 58 -> 57, incense 10/10
LOOT: +1 Snake meat

A heavy rain to compensate for the previous day greeted us in the morning. All seemed uneventful as well, until a sound was heard and we turned around to find Jasper struggling with a snake that found its way around his neck. Arden's concern was easily recognized, but Smuck's helpful commands to poor Taban were heard. With primitive tools, he helped to fight the snake off. Quickly finished by the use of Azaka's skillful usage of daggers. Poor Jasper seemed shaken from the experience, and alertness returned.

Our guides informed us that a so-called constrictive snake have no venom, and are therefor less of a threat. But that speaks little for their tendency to draw their prey from their breath. With quick spellcasting, the reptile was fried by fire, and we obtained ... Snake meat?

The afternoon was neither uneventful, when we noticed a group of humans crouching. We were warned by the guides to be cautious about it, Gat took a close look and could confirm cannibalistic activity. Humans were circling around another human and they feast on their prey.

We decided to take caution and keep our distance to resume out path after half a circle around its regions. Our guides told us that these are tribe folk that engage in cannibalistic behaviorism

However it isn't limited to the living, the undead are neither safe. Both are consumed with little limitation. I asked them how it is possible that they are unaffected by the undead their flesh. That's when they made mention of a deity they worship. The reason why exactly has not been confirmed, but they believe that their loyalty to this divine entity might help them overcome those natural struggles. They are absolutely dangerous and must be avoided at all cost.

The mild rain of the evening guided us through the nightfall to come.

Day 4: Insect repellant 57 -> 56, incense 10/10 (Streth 46)
LOOT: -10 insect salve (Streth) +1 gold

We had a strong wind to shake us awake and chase after our belongings to greet us in the morning, and footsteps approaching our camp. They might have heard us.

Two humanoid species that asked permission to approach us, after being threatened by a fire ball that landed on the ground as a warning sign. One conjured by Smuck. Some of us drew their weapon, others took cover, I choose an in between. They made clear that they simply wanted a chat and a trade. A human male and lizardfolk male.

And the decision was placed on me what to do. Having recognized the moment we took to decide, they suggested simply leaving. Worried that I might miss out on a chance to obtain information, I suggested to meet them in between our distance on my own. That if something would happen, that none of the others is in harm. They agreed to my offer. Once we met at the center, "David", a man who prefers not to reveal his name, regardless of me having shared mine, had said he needed approximately 30 applications of salve for the upcoming journey.

Unfortunately, I could not provide him this many, for our travel ahead is a long one. Instead, he requested 10 applications instead to proceed their journey for another 10 days. I considered it, but asked where they plan to head to. Port Nyanzaru is not far from our location. It made me wonder why they won't head there. Perhaps it's the checkpoint of the Flaming Fists that keeps them. The two are of an unusual traveling size of only two men.

Upon agreement, I gave them the 10 applications of salve in return for double the price. It was what I was offered after all. I used this positive outcome for the two to ask more about their travel to the east, what they intend to find there. They seem hesitant about it, but when I shared that we have traveled the jungle as well and might provide some helpful intel, they reconsidered. I was asked if I came across any ancient runes during my travel in the south, but the answer is no. This appears to be what they are looking for.

Then the human looked at me with a stern expression, he who I can call "David". He told me to be careful about approaching strangers. Shapeshifters can be found anywhere, especially surrounding the regions of Camp Righteous. I was told that this location has been abandoned since a number of months, and might be occupied with a threat. I must be cautious as a group around there. They also said that more of the south contains cannibals.

I had frowned in that moment, we have indeed seen their sort a day before the current. And why they are a threat was also made known. I kindly thanked him for his advice.

We gave our goodbye and best wishes for our travel. Once I returned to the group, I told them what happened. Azaka was concerned about their numbers and suggested to keep an eye out to ensure nobody will follow us. We must be wary of those two travelers. They know that we head south. However, I know that south says very little about our exact location, and to obtain information, one must exchange some.

However, I wonder ... What ancient runes could they be looking for?

The afternoon rained lightly with no rain to find until the evening. The evening is when we discovered a corpse of an elf. Not one of undead nature nor was there any magic involved with the body. The cause of death is unknown, but this person carried no valuables. I guided Arden past the corpse by hand, so he wouldn't need to see, however his hasty steps had me guided away instead.

With a brief prayer for the soul's safe travel by me and a burial given by Gat, we resumed our path to set camp elsewhere.

Day 5Insect repellant 56 -> 55, incense 10/10 (Streth 45)

Our morning was plagued by fast paced clouds of storm. A dangerous storm is to come, Azaka warns us. We must seek for shelter, which we decided to do when the wind and rain reminded us of its viscious strength. We waited for the storm to end, and afternoon to come to resume our journey.

In the afternoon, we came across a group of people that resembled the appearance of lizardfolk of a hunting party. It made Shago laugh with enthusiasm and promote our group's numbers that cause them to cower and avoid us. He considered us lucky for it. Perhaps we are indeed lucky!

The evening had yet another encounter, but one that Jasper detected from afar. Yet another snake was waiting at a tree for its moment to strike an unknowing traveler. He reached for his crossbow and made sure it would not prey on anyone, and made sure it wouldn't ever again. That's ... One threat less for nightfall?

Day 6: Insect repellant 55 -> 54, incense 10/10 (Streth 44)
LOOT: +25% of poison materials (Jasper) 25/100

The morning was uneventful, but during the afternoon we came across a fallen tree. And when we walked past it, two swarms of poisonous centipedes came out. We attacked it from afar and ceased the threat. Then Gat and Jasper extracted the poison from their remains to use as a weapon.

It was due to our numbers that this enemy was no big threat to us, aren't we lucky? The rest of the day to come had no concerns for our survival.

Day 7: Insect repellant 54 -> 53, incense 10/10 (Streth 43)

We moved at a good pace according to our guides, when our attention was caught by a flying creature that flew in circles to look for a prey. It was a flying reptile, but no dragon or bird, a snake. Shago assured us that we mustn't worry, for it hunts for smaller creatures. It will not attack us while we leave it alone.

However, he said, he knows that a merchant prince tends to collect these and it might be of our interests. That awoke interests in Smuck, who was curious about their market price, but Shago couldn't tell. I voiced my concerns about the transport, we have a large journey ahead of us, and to ensure its survival to Port Nyanzaru might just be a challenge. It might attack us when we least expect it as well, and lack the equipment to keep it restrained for long. Shago yelled to the creature that he's a lucky survivor.

During the afternoon, we neared the rumored Camp Righteous. We were told to be wary of this locations. Mention was made of shapeshifters and its abandoned situation. A tropical storm made itself shown up in the sky above. Azaka recommended us not to move and find shelter, but Shago suggested that if we're interested to see Camp Righteous, this might be a good moment. The storm will cover all our sounds, it could be a perfect disguise.

We agreed to approach it to get a better look, but first keep our distance. Once in reach, we noticed the ruins of what was once a place that people named home. Its borders revealed ruined tents, shrines, but also a large statue at a hill of a man with a reptile on his back. It was seated behind an entrance between it legs on the hill on which it was seated. If this location is in use, the ones who may be there would likely seek shelter inside. An ancient temple.

We decided to seek shelter from the storm and not yet to approach for the skies to clear and our vision to sharpen. Not only that, we might be able to detect signs of life that we currently cannot. The spyglass will be a helpful tool. (Late afternoon)

LOOT+1 light crossbow, +40 bolts (Streth), +2 bags of ball bearings (Jasper) +100 gold (Donation Temple of Savras), -25, -2  gold (Light crossbow, 40 bolts), -2 gold (Ball bearings), -1 gold and 3 silver (Food)

After having arranged plans with Azaka, she parted ways with us, and we returned to the innkeeper of the Thundering Lizard inn to ask him about miss Undril Silvertusk. The innkeeper was suffering from a severe headache and didn't quite seem to enjoy my enthusiastic greeting.

He told us that this lady went to Kaya's House of Rest instead due to the excessive noise, for which he didn't blame her. And also complained that she how didn't change her notice board message in response.

He was in such pain, I was concerned and asked him if he is alright. If I can help the poor man. He said that if I can conjure some holy water specifically for a hangover, he'd be grateful. I shook my head, I am in no position to conjure something like that, but I reached out my hand to him when I offered an alternative cure that might help.

I shut my eyes, and let a golden light travel his arm when I used my ability to lay my hand on his. Divine powers connected with his body and helped him recover from the pain. (5 HP) He was surprised, and felt fantastic afterwards. He was enthusiastic and asked me if I will be around tomorrow at the same hour. I was confused at first, but when I said I had plans, he seemed disappointed. Perhaps, he said, he'll find another paladin. It took a while for myself to understand the intention, but eventually I did. I watched the man as he took a swift turn toward his liquor. Interesting individual ...

I gave my goodbye, and we left to find Undril Silvertusk at Kaya's house of resting. Once we were there, Gat spotted an individual like Smuck in the distance and told me about it. Before I could react, Taban yelled throughout the entire building how much he missed him when he made the run toward him. Smuck was quickly wrapped in both his arms for a hug. It was a nice sight, to see the two this close. I simply need to partially ignore the terms in which they speak. I suppose we indeed need to fear less with such a fearless leader we hadn't with us for this long.

We all greeted him, once Taban was done squeezing the goblin in disguise. And shared him the plans we had for the journey. He said he'd join us for 20 gold, but when I refused to pay, he seemed much more eager to join our group regardless. What an honor. I suppose, that is~

. . .

I approached miss Kaya, but before I could address what my intention was, she seemed most displeased with Taban's loud enthusiasm that was likely head from even outside the inn. This being the house of rest, that wasn't much appreciated. I apologized in his place, and admitted our journeys hadn't been easy, and that the enthusiasm of reuniting was not as easy to contain.

She seemed to calm down and accepted the apology. Then I asked her about miss Undril Silvertusk. Yes, indeed, that person is staying with them. She had sent someone to go find her room and inform her of our interests to meet her.

It didn't take long before we met her. An enthusiastic half orcish woman that is enthusiastic about the journey toward Camp Vengeance, where she will receive new orders. She is a priestess of Torm, and a member of the Order of Gauntlet. An order that unites many warriors of faith of Helm, Torm and Tyr. I could barely contain my enthusiasm when I had heard these words. It is such an honor to have such a member accompanying our journey. She considers a priest, paladin and magician a perfect combination for travel, but while an magician is absent, she thinks Arden is fine too.

She thinks our group is balanced by ability, and ...! What an honor! Wow! ... <Insert drooling>

We told her about the plans for the coming days, that we will meet here, at Kaya's house of rest Inn in the early morning, from there, we will head to the Thundering Lizard Inn to come and pick up Azaka, and depending on miss Inete her opinion, we will afterwards head to Temple of Savras, or where she wishes to meet us.

. . .

With these plans set, we bid farewell for the duration, and headed toward the Temple of Savras to find Inete. During our walk there, a man that struggled to walk approached us. He could barely keep his balance, his head hooded by his blue and white robe.

I was worried about his wellbeing, and took several steps toward him. I asked him if he is feeling alright, until he made an attempt to take my hand. I let him take it and held him steadily. The cloaked man appears to have invisible pupils when he brought himself closer. It was like we had a deep connection in that moment. The surrounding sound deafened for a moment, drowned by the heavy rain. He spoke to me, and said:

"Speak to the wise guardian of Orolunga, east of Mbala. She can direct you to that which you seek."

Once he had spoken these words, the grip on my hand weakened, and I knew that he would faint. With quick steps I caught him in my arm, and made sure he wouldn't make the fall. He was unresponsive. Upon closer inspection, he appears to be an acolyte of the Temple of Savras. I took him in my arms, and hurried toward the temple to ensure he wouldn't get sick in the weather.

Taban seemed concerned about my wellbeing after what happened, but I could barely focus, with the man's wellbeing relying on my quick handling, I told him that I am well. That reflects the truth, regardless of Smuck's playful attempts to make him believe otherwise, Taban remained next to me, and assured that if I'd feel weak, he would catch me. A very kind gesture that I appreciate.

Together, we made haste to the temple, where a group of acolytes seemed curious about our arrival. They kept their respectful distance while we carried Eshek, as they called him, inside. During this, a elvish man approached us. "You took Eshek with you. Did you receive a vision or a message?"

I returned him a surprised expression, and gave him a nod. Indeed, we did receive one. "Yes", I said to him. "And we are grateful." The acolytes seem impressed, it was like an omen to them, they appear to appreciate us much more.

With Eshek handed to their safe and assuring care, we headed farther inside the building to meet Head priest Zitembe, who gave us his greeting. Not only that, he knew exactly why we were there, and who we are looking for. I hadn't expected this welcome in the slightest, but I was happy that he learns of our plans so easily.

He lifted his hand and pointed in the direction of his people, which group parted, when a lady stepped forward. It was Inete, she knew of everything as well, and is fine with traveling with our numbers. She told us that we'll meet her at Kaya's House of Rest, which is our inn. Not only that, she rose a coin pouch that carries 100 gold pieces as a donation to us. This mission, she said, it is for all brothers and sisters of the temple. I was hesitant about accepting it, but I wish not to dishonor their kind generosity. I thanked them kindly as I took a hold of it.

With a bow, we made our leave.

. . .

The group reminded me of Xandala, an elf woman who is eagerly looking for a group of adventurers that will assist her to find her father. It would be in the same direction as we are going. So we started to look for her. We spoke to a few people, who said that they last saw her at the western gate(?). But when we found nothing, we asked more people, who said that they last saw her heading at the bazaar.

We divided the group to go look for her. And I was lucky to find her near a potion shop. I carefully approached her, and waited for her to buy two potions of healing, until she turned and locked eyes with me. It was a friendly meeting again, she seemed happy to hear that we looked for her to help her out. But when she heard of our traveling companions' number, she was unsure.

She had a thought, and decided not to accept. She fears that the number of people might frighten her father. I must admit, we'll travel with eleven people in total. While the travel is likely safe, it also comes with some complications, that is true. She said to me that once we have a smaller group, we can find her. When I asked her where we are likely to find her, she told us that we can find her at Kaya's House of Rest, if she didn't find a different group by that time.

We parted ways in an equally friendly manner, and I regrouped with the others to inform them of what happened. Smuck was eager to tell me that he found small red dragons at the shops that look almost identical to Summerwise, her companion dragon. It's an interesting find, that is for certain ...

Our plans for tomorrow are set, we have an additional 100 gold, so I made sure we have everything we need. After the experiences I had at the field, I decided to buy myself a light crossbow with 40 bolts, and Jasper bought a bag of ball bearings (1,000). We enjoyed some food at the Bazaar, and then we returned to the inn to rest up for the morning to come. We also had our clothing washed! What a service!

Our night after battling the Sea Hags came to an end in a restful night at the shelter we discovered at the shore.

Day 3
LOOT: +1 spyglass (Streth)

We rose from our position to greet the sunrise at a moderate rainfall and a soft breeze of warm air. Following the coast as we did, our morning was undisturbed. In the afternoon, however, we were greeted by a stranger from afar. An Aarakocra flew in our direction with a sense of urgency and curiosity, before it flew within our range with a wave. He introduced himself with the name Zil, and explained that he is a scout of Kir Sabal, located west on our map. His mission is to find struggling adventurers to assist them, especially ones that misjudge the dangers of the jungle and its surrounding regions. After Zil had confirmed that we are in good shape, he seems relieved, and hands us a gift that may be helpful for our mission. One hidden in a wooden tube that he gently dropped for Arden to catch.

We thanked him, and hope we'll cross path again. Perhaps when we visit Kir Sabal one day. It was a pleasant meeting. He departed and resumed his mission.

Upon inspection, Arden has discovered that inside the wooden tube a Spyglass is held. An item of high value that only a few travelers can get a hold of. This could be considered a treasure, and to ensure that we will not be targeted for it, I decided to hide it in my armor.

The evening that came during our travel was neither eventful, and we had a good night's rest.

Day 4

Our morning had no dangers ahead, but it had rain, a lot of rain. Much like all other days. With our armor or clothing soaked as they are, our true enemy is the discomfort it offers. Skin irritation, endless itching spots, sores, and bruises. During our travel, we again saw the red dragon in the far distance. It headed in a south-Western direction. By the use of the map, we can tell it flew in Camp Vengeance and Camp Righteous' direction. I wonder what discoveries this direction holds ...

Day 5
:
LOOT+3 Gold coins (Arden)
NOTE: We arrived Port Nyanzaru

We are closing in on Port Nyanzaru. From afar, I can see its walls and buildings! What a sight! Almost distracted by it, I fell over a rock, but ... Nothing happened! I promise!

(...) Before we knew it, we did arrive by the evening. Soaked, however, but ... Our travel was safe! We also made it past the Flaming Fist checkpoint without having anything taken! Mission success!

Our arrival at Port Nyanzaru by entering through the western gate was easily confirmed once we neared the inn's. The Thundering Lizard is ever so loud and cheerful, even at these hours. It is much like we are told, if you'd like a rest, a rest at Kaya's house of rest is much needed. I can barely hear the music at night when we rest there. And how I look forward to a comfortable bath and a soft bed to rest upon!

We checked in to the inn and obtained a room for all of us. I left my traveling gear behind for that much needed bath, and soon afterwards, we paid the Thundering Lizard a visit to seek Shago. We were told by Shago to speak to the innkeeper, a dwarf, who was barely sober at this hour. Seemingly enjoying himself, too! And neither did I hesitate to enjoy my time without any fear.

The music was enchanting the experience, to which I invited Taban to a dance. Together, we let the music and atmosphere steer us. Along with a few, delicious and refreshing drinks. Taban's inexperience in the art of dance was visible, but I am neither the perfect performer myself. However, we are here to have some fun, too. Aren't we?

Gat remained outside, unwilling to join. Occupied with stargazing to the distant tunes of song. Arden joined the music making, while Jasper spoke to the innkeeper to leave a message for Shago.

Our playful evening was put on hold when Gat informed us of a sound he has heard. Each of us hurried toward the commotion, and we found a barrel shattered in many pieces upon arrival. A group of strangers seemed to have heard the same. They all asked questions about what happened, to which one older man answered. Nothing has happened, no victims fell this day. He used the wording "Don't bother, they are already gone!".

It was strange to me. That barrel came from the buildings wall, where other barrels were placed in line of which one is missing. Curiously, I let my attention return to the man. The strangers lost interests, and the one familiar with the situation left, too. With hurried steps, I followed him for answers. Who are "they"?

. . .

Jasper climbed the wall in the meanwhile by the use of a grappling hook and skillful maneuvers, we had his way up the wall of the Thundering Lizard's Inn to inspect the barrels. Three barrels remained. He took a look of the content of the barrels and found that the first one in line was empty. The second was half full with water, and the third was entirely filled with water. It was made clear that the intention of these barrels are to store water. But not for drinking, perhaps something else?

A door leads to this place, that is connected to the Thundering Lizard, staff area. He realized that this height can easily be reached by some acrobatic skill. With no traces to be found of the wrongdoers, he left the building and regrouped with the others that waited for him.

. . .

I finally reached this elderly man, who finally stopped in his steps for me to catch up. When I asked for his attention, he turned around. He already knew what I was going to ask, and that answer is simple. "No one has died!" I had confessed that I understand the concern, however I truly worry about the cause of it. If these are monsters, perhaps people instead? Or a different threat. That barrel seemed harmful. "You're better off not knowing!" He said in return. He seemed displeased by the fact that I am an outsider, as well as the fact that he considers me an adventurer.

One, who sticks his nose in businesses that do not concern him. But I assured him that I am not interested in my wellbeing, when he said I should be. He was displeased, irritated, and perhaps even disgusted. I need to ensure that the people here can rest at night, and feel safe. But then he accidentally dropped that the group of people, who are responsible for the deed, are dangerous, and that I shouldn't get involved with them. And that knowledge brought a smile back onto my face.

I thanked him. I have my answer. And with a bow, I observed the man leave with hasty, irritated steps. The group caught up with me, and I told them what happened.

Taban placed his hand onto my shoulder, and turned to me. He reminded me that we cannot save everyone. The thought alone, it hurt me. And so I did confess, that I wish for the people to rest at ease at the late hours. But I did know that we can only cover so much ground, and help so many people. Another palm was placed onto my other shoulder when emotion got the better of me. "We'll do our best!" Taban confirmed. I nodded vigorously. "I knew you'd understand! ..." I had said to him. An embrace tightened, and a few tears landed onto the ground in this confession.

I suggested another drink to bear with it better. Taban didn't hesitate. Passionate steps led us back to the Thundering Lizard, while the rest of the group separated to get some rest at the other inn. A few more drinks, a dance, and some laughter helped us overcome the heavy mood.

LOOT:  -60 GP for Azaka (Guide), -9 GP and -6 SP for incense and Insect repellent, -Short bow and arrows (Jasper), -Short Sword/Dagger (Jasper), +40 Insect repellent applications (All), +4 Incense (All), Light Crossbow and 60 Crossbow Bolts (Gat)

The next day, we left early to do some local shopping at the markets. We obtained Insect repellant (40 uses) and (4) Incense for our travel. Jasper sold his extra weapons, and Gat bought one with bolts in addition.

When we returned from the markets to head to the inn, we found Kaya standing outside to message us. With hurried steps we approached her. She told us that a person is awaiting us inside the inn. One we're expecting that is. We thanked her kindly, and headed inside to meet the hooded man seated at one of their benches. Shago has arrived to meet us.

His positive energy immediately filled the room. Gat was very happy to see him, and made that known to the man. Much like a loyal dog who is finally reunited with his owner. A delightful sight to myself. I am simply relieved that nothing has happened to him in a location where a merchant prince wishes him dead. We must remain wary of our presence with him in our company while we're at Port Nyanzaru.

Curiously as the man is, he asked what our plans are. But we would like to observe the notice board first, I had said, to see for any tasks we can complete. And that we did.

With a few steps we stood outside, where many curious eyes gazed upon the notice board and its tasks. According to Shago, two missions head in the same direction. We could combine the two, and that was quite helpful. We didn't know these locations by their names alone, but he assured us that all guides know these locations. That reminded us once again just how helpful it is to have a guide traveling with us.

The group considers taking even three of these missions, but first, we need to ensure that the people are not bothered by that either. Our numbers will increase significantly if they all happen to agree.

We first headed to the Thundering Lizard, where we informed the Innkeeper about wishing to meet Azaka. Not much later, we indeed spoke to this beautiful individual. She appears capable in a fight, and is also a guide that Shago seems ... Close with? From a distance, that is. Eager to hug the lady, but rejected when he gets too close. A sad display. Gat worries that she might just be a little too distracting for the two. Even Taban is affected, and I must refrain by getting caught in the pleasing display of a woman myself.

Focus, Streth. Helm would be disappointed! ...

The guide seems displeased with our plans. She appears to wish to head Aldani Basin as well, just like Inete of Temple of Savras. That's quite a coincidence, it wasn't at the notice board, but due to the detour, she wishes for compensation. As we also with to visit the River of Soshenstar to assist Undril Silvertusk. For the detour, she requests us to pay for her as a guide.

Due to the situation, she is willing to lower her price by a single gold per day, resulting in 4 gold instead of 5 per day. And so is Shago. Her travel back to Port Nyanzaru after having visited her location, is free of charge. Normally she gets paid thirty days in advance for travel, but we managed to convince her to reduce this to fifteen days instead. We paid her sixty gold pieces, and made an arrangement to meet her in the morning (6 AM).

We now need to meet with Undril at this location, and then head to the Temple of Savras to find Inete.

We have received one additional quest by Gruta, if we accept. It is to travel to Shilku Bay, far south. This travel would be by boat, and takes more than one week to reach the shores of Shilku Bay. We would be tasked to remain on land for seven days of time completing a week, and keep eye on any activity.

The village of Shilku Bay is believed to be destroyed, but strange reports have been misleading. To ensure clear answers, a group of capable men and women must confirm for certainty. We would be provided with all that we need for travel. Be it food, and the travel itself. Optionally, our group can travel by land instead, however it will take considerably longer to do so, and the dangers ahead will threaten our passage with each day. As well as we must afford a guide for the time as well.

To travel by boat can be equally dangerous, for the sea turtle may be among our encounters, who will demand payment for passage. If we aim to earn the gold for it, we might as well lose it all the same during the task. We have two directions of travel as well, if the task is completed. Resulting in two encounters if unlucky. Without the gold to pay for a safe passage, we cannot ensure our safety in the slightest.

Miss Gruta has told us that the Flaming Fist demands a clear answer by the morning sun to come. Before making a decision, we met up with Gat to discuss the details. With all our thoughts uttered, we decided not to do it just yet, and declined the task for the duration. It will be available to us until a new group of adventurers decides to take care of it.

For my personal view on the matter, I am curious to explore the nearby lands of the location where the Soulmonger could be held, as foretold by head priest Zitembe of the Temple of Savras. I am aware of the dangers, and must know better not to force any of the men in such lands where threats await their unknowing prey to come.

After visiting the local markets, we decided to sell our obtained belongings from the jungle, not to fear losing half of its value by entering the checkpoint at Port Nyanzaru. After all, we rely on the gold to afford our necessary supplies, and guide. The survival of the people rely on it, we mustn't fail them.

We have been offered a place for the night entirely free of charge after having helped the Flaming Fists, and have enjoyed the most pleasant baths, and comfortable beds without any noisy bugs and critters. I have found many insect bites, however, and have helped some others treating their discomforts. I try not to get used to the comfort of luxury too much after having entered the dreadful territory of Chult. The land with no rest to find.

Day 121 Insect repellant. (Lasts for 24 hours) 6/6 Incense. (Lasts for 8 hours)
NOTE: No longer in Jungle. The course is set to Port Nyanzaru from Port Beluarian.

The next day, we were welcomed by a light rain and a strong wind for our travel back toward Port Nyanzaru. We intend to meet up with Shago again to see how he is doing, and take a look at the tasks the place holds for our travel toward the cure to the curse.

The weather shifted to a moderate rain for afternoon to come, but no surprises thus far are found, until the sun was setting. A familiar plant by the exploration of the guide, we are aware to keep our distance and defeat the threat before it could fight us back. A Tri-Flower Frond. Once defeated, the rest of our evening was entirely uneventful.

Day 2

No wind to be felt, but a heavy shower fell from the heavens above. No end in sight as we travel the land toward our destination. We held our steps when a sudden screeching was heard. We turned our head and followed the noise. The heavy rain made it troubling to us, but we recognized the eagle up in the sky. Unusual for these regions, but it appears to make attempts to draw our attention. Once in reach, it flew in circles and motioned to us to follow. Soon followed by a new location, close to the shore. Curious of what we may find, we followed it.

After a short walk, we neared a location where 3 bodies laid upon the earth, with the eagle landing on the one in the center. Gat was eager to bring us near, but I requested patience, for we do not know with which situation we handle with. Our cautious step brought us closer, and after I could determine no threat of either poison or disease, we neared them with haste.

All three seemed stranded, cold. Our group separated to check each of their wellbeing. All of them were very cold to the touch, the breathing of two of them was unsteady, but present. As for the last, no breathing at all, neither any response of life. Two women and a man. Gat handled the one in the center, the male one. Who coughed eventually and cleared his throat. Removing the sand from his mouth. Gasping in the familiar, foreign Chultan language. Requesting for water repetitively. The druid didn't hesitate to provide. As if possessed by something, the stranger drank from his waterskin.

With the rain still pouring down upon us, I suggested Arden and Jasper to find a shelter to treat them, as the remaining three of us carried them over. While a suggestion was made to leave the dead woman behind, I decided against it, and carried her along with the rest. I believed that while she is not affected by unlife yet, she deserves a grave and to be treated with respect.

The two scouted on ahead, with myself, Gat and Taban following their steps. They seemed to have found something at the beach from the distance, and I was very happy to recognize their hand signs from afar, we made a very unfortunate discovery.

The bodies we carried, their skin, it began to shift. Their hands turned into large claws. The three of us quickly dropped them onto the beach and took a step backwards, when they took the form of sea hags. We have been deceived! With eyes of disbelief, I watched the woman, of which I previously thought was dead, come to life with a different appearance.

Regret filled my mind, as I recalled my thoughts to honor her and her companions. While I could have left her behind and lessen the offense ahead of us. All three took an aggressive stance. And that eagle that followed us? It was gone. None other but a trick to fool us. These vile, deceptive kind. I reached toward both blade and shield to brace myself for combat with none but determination. If we let them live, they will simply prey on the next travelers. We mustn't let that happen! And with that, the battle begun.

We felt them play with each our mind, attempts to spread dread into it, and steer its fear. But that hasn't stopped our attacks. Our brave strikes, guided by our goal for all of the people. We may not fail our quest. We mustn't!

One after the other, a loud screech and a thud determined our enemy's downfall. Two fell, and the third made a last attempt to attack, before she fled toward the water. Her hurried steps brought her near, regardless of the fact that the smite of the divine struck her body. It matters little in the eye of the survivor. Not an arrow could strike her, and the battle was over.

We decided to head toward the shelter and treat each our wounds. May she teach all her brothers and sisters for this day to never repeat. May they learn not to try the patience of a well-coordinated group of adventurers.

Our afternoon was welcomed with the absence of rain as well as wind. A calm travel with no enemies ahead. A lucky travel toward safety is made this day. Neither did the evening have any objections, but enough rainfall for our waterskin to hold and drink from.

Day 1328 > 27 Insect repellant. (Lasts for 24 hours) 6/6 Incense. (Lasts for 8 hours)

When we packed our bags for travel in the morning, not far from us, we witnessed three apes enjoying a fine looking meal of fruit. Much more pleasant than our dried fruit, but by Qawasha's request, and our own respect toward wildlife, we decided not to interfere. Our guide seemed most pleased with our decision when our journey resumed into the afternoon and evening. The weather shifted from a light to a heavy rain by nightfall.

Day 14
27 > 26 Insect repellant. (Lasts for 24 hours) 6/6 Incense. (Lasts for 8 hours)

A light rain had us woken from our rest, soon introduced to a moderate amount by noon. Our path remained safe, and our pace steady. The evening had a surprise for our, when the scent of undead was caught by Gat's skilled nose. Ahead of us, eleven zombies rose from the ground. Bursting through the soil and having themselves known. Standing unsteady on their feet as they faced us. Our weapons were drawn as we took a defensive formation. As known by their every typical tendency, they charged at us through the rough terrain that slowed our speed significantly.

Guided by Helm, I stood strong and caught their attention by His divine light. Many of their offensive attempts to beat me off my legs were made, but the shield of my faith had their attacks halted, until two strong hits caught me off guard. Jasper, too, was struggling near me as Taban made quick work of others in the distance not far ahead of us. Helms divine powers surrounded me once again, after I recovered my footing on the soil that merged with the blood that poured from my wounds. Light engulfed me once again to ensure no other gets hurt. Our attacks were guided by fate, our hope to restore the lands and courage to stand tall against our enemy.

One of our enemy had fallen five times, until he remained where he belonged, not different for a few others, until our strength came combined. They stood not a chance. We won the battle and gained a brighter smile upon Qawasha's face. We hurried to safety for nightfall to come and our wounds to recover.

Day 1526 > 25 Insect repellant. (Lasts for 24 hours) 6/6 Incense. (Lasts for 8 hours)

Our rest was interrupted by a windy morning, while warm, it is much better than without. The journey toward Port Beluarian resumed. On our way, we came across the Flaming Fist patrol, strengthened by a leading knight, three dinosaurs, an acolyte and seven guards. A rather intimidating sight to a criminal man, but we are no such folk. After having revealed our Charter of Exploration, we had nothing to fear. They let not their sight stray far from the path after the sight of it, and they let us pass

The afternoon frightened us with a tropical storm, for which we decided to take cover to ensure we do not face any threat. After time passed, the tropical storm eased, and we resumed our travel into the evening where a heavy rain allowed us to refill our water supply.

Day 1625 > 24 Insect repellant. (Lasts for 24 hours) 6/6 Incense. (Lasts for 8 hours)

We awakened to a mild rain in the morning, and had resumed our path, until something flew past our head. Our curious gaze lifted to the sky, where a pack of reptilic birds I have never seen flew in a predator formation. They had no interests in us Qawasha assured, we mustn't interfere with them. Jasper confirmed with a convinced nod. These do not seem like creatures I would like to cross sword with.

We carried on for afternoon to come, introduced by the heavy rain. Unpleasant, it matters not how often it comes and goes. I desire a bed and a bath which is cold, away from these nests of insects. I desire to wash my cloth and treat my chainmail.

Later this day, we came across something adorable. Almiraj, small, single horned bunnies! We are told that they make great pets to noble kind, and neither Qawasha had something against us catching them to sell as pets. Gat, however, he didn't quite like the idea. He knows how nobles are like, and how they treat what they consider their possessions. It had discouraged my enthusiasm entirely, for I believe he speaks truth about them. Taban remained interested, curious about the earnings as our guide explained how these cute little bunnies were brought here. This is not their natural habitat. Instead, they were brought by Chult by a merchant prince to introduce them as pets. A thing that our guide is not too happy with as they do not belong. Much like the giants we had seen ...

Arden seemed displeased about them, too, wondering if he is not good enough to us as a rabbitfolk. They ... Do look adorable, and I was eager to pet them at least once ... But perhaps I should not, and I had requested Arden if I was allowed to pet his head instead. He seemed fine with it. What a delight. It's so soft! Even if somewhat sticky by the climate ...

As we were busy wondering what to do, Gat had lost his patience and scared the Almiraj away. Oh well.

Day 1724 > 23 Insect repellant. (Lasts for 24 hours) 6/6 Incense. (Lasts for 8 hours)

During our early morning travel, we came across what first looked like spikey terrain before it rose to all four and revealed a huge dinosaur. The ground shook a little with its steps, but it did not seem like it sought for trouble. Mere curiosity when it stepped toward us. A Stegosaurus. Gat was willing to hold his position to get close, however I trust none in this jungle and wrapped my arm around his torso to keep pushing him in the direction away from it. His attention remained with the equally curious dinosaur, before it, too, left us be and resumed its path away from us. Phew.

Day 1823 > 22 Insect repellant. (Lasts for 24 hours) 6/6 Incense. (Lasts for 8 hours)

This day gave us enough water and safety to resume our journey. No encounters this day.

Day 1922 > 21 Insect repellant. (Lasts for 24 hours) 6/6 Incense. (Lasts for 8 hours)
LOOT: -8 ghoul heads, -wolf fur, -broken arrow, gained 160 Gold and a quiver with 5 magic arrows.

We near the gate of Port Beluarian with a sense of relief, until we were close enough to be addressed by the guardsman in the tower. He seemed to have noticed the ghoul heads we carry with us, and upon confirmation, requested us to place these in a pit to count. Qawasha confirmed that this is correct, they ensure that no disease is carried inside the gates of the Flaming Fists. With all eight counted, we are allowed passage.

Once inside, Qawasha gives his thanks for our travel together, and offers us to come seek him again if we intend to hunt for more undead in the jungle. He and his companion gave their farewell and returned to the place they name home within the gates, separating himself from us. Gat decided to join us after the meeting and also separated from our group.

We head farther in, and met with Gruta, a lady of the Flaming Fists, who had heard the message of our arrival with the ghoul heads. She inspected each of us with her curious gaze to ensure we carry no disease, and allowed us passage after having given the sign to the guardsmen. The path is made clear for us to be led to Flaming Fist Blaze, Liara Portyr, who waited inside her office for our arrival. She was pleased with our success.

The major gave us a pouch with 160 gold for the 8 ghoul heads, and was curious about the strange tracks that we investigated.

When we explained that these came from three Frost Giants and two Wind wolves, both Gruta and Liara burst out burst out laughing with disbelief. However, that lasted not very long after we revealed the proof of a broken arrow, fur and information about the strange, magical frost at the location of our map. Their faces turned much more stern and concern replaced the previous lighthearted delight. The major dismissed us, telling us she needs to write her reports. The reason for their appearance is entirely foreign, and will need to get looked in. We added that Qawasha, our guide, had witnessed the same, and would she have questions, he is within reach during our absence.

With her thanks given, we were led outside to wait for our reward to be handed by Gruta. A quiver with five magic arrows, she ensured would be valuable for our travel, or for our pouch if we decide to sell these. Her head turned toward us once again when she asked if we are looking for more work. The ghoul heads are always an option to hunt for and will be exchanged for 20 gold per head.

Off-screen

During our absence, Gat gathered branches to make a small gift to Qawasha, a gift between druids, handcrafted by the usage of branches. Knitting a connection with what he said their connection and meeting was like, something carved within memory and translated to a piece of art. Kupalué quite liked it, and seemed to play with it curiously. Qawasha gave his thanks, and wished to return a gift as well, but is not as skilled by hand.

Our druid companions, Naewarin and Juniper decided to return after our successful battle. They considered their mission completed after the slaughter of ghouls and began their journey back to Port Nyanzaru. While we are offered to join them on their way back, we instead decided to remain to explore the surroundings as marked on our map, to investigate the infested area for foot prints.

Our travel resumed south in order to enter the said area. A heavy storm made our path difficult, but a steady pace was kept.

Day 7: 34 > 33 Insect repellant. (Lasts for 24 hours) 6/6 Incense. (Lasts for 8 hours)
LOOT: (None)

The next day, our path resumed and we made our journey clear in the tracks we leave behind, guided by the heavy rain. It is to our luck that the day had no obstacles to offer for us. We move stealthily not to attract any offense.

Day 8: 33 > 32 Insect repellant. (Lasts for 24 hours) 6/6 Incense. (Lasts for 8 hours)
LOOT: (None)
NOTE: We discovered the footprints of 3 Frost Giants and 2 large wolves (of unfamiliar subspecies)

A new day begins, and we have successfully reached the marked surroundings on the map. The morning began with the exploration of the grounds for markings, but so far we have been unlucky. No difference in that result by the afternoon either. Due to the lack of water, Gat's spell helped us refresh not only our water supplies, but the rest allowed me to shower as well. What a delight not to feel the warm water for a change! Very refreshing, indeed!

The evening brought us luck when the light slowly began to dim. A clear pathway is marked by large trees and bushes alike to be pushed aside for a huge creature to pass. The markings of their feet no different. They are of humanoid nature, by Gat's suspicions, not only that, he could conclude that these tracks originate from Frost giants. The sound of it is highly unusual, as these wouldn't be their natural environment, given the heat. Three of these tracks in total mark the discovery of three traveling frost giants, and the company of two wolves of a large size.

The tracks of the frost giants are as big as I am, it could be the size of my bed! That is ... I am entirely speechless. Many tales I had heard, but never have I witnessed these entities! The giants wear no footwear, much of that is clear from the prints.

By this, we have discovered the tracks, but as the Flaming Fist major had said, she would be most pleased if we could confirm the travelers' species with these imprints on the ground. We have no proof, other than Gat's certainty, but with it came his curiosity. One that Arden shared, but not without that familiar fear in his eyes. These tracks are of approximately 2 days old by Gat's understanding. If we can cover the land in between us and a fast traveling species by height? I do not know ...

Our plan is to resume exploring, but to move with caution.

Day 9: 32 > 31 Insect repellant. (Lasts for 24 hours) 6/6 Incense. (Lasts for 8 hours)
LOOT: (None)

Our new mission is to seek physical evidence and sight of our curious far travelers. Our pace was challenged by a strong wind and not only that, our path was too, when a large dinosaur passed us from a great distance afar. Quickly, we hurried to the safety of a hiding spot for it to pass. It took the reptilian creature only moments to move out of sight. Seemingly chasing after something, that luckily is not us.

With newfound courage, our journey resumed. Blessed by a moderate rain to drink from. We kept heading south from the map in the hopes of new discoveries.

Day 10: 31 > 30 Insect repellant. (Lasts for 24 hours) 6/6 Incense. (Lasts for 8 hours)
LOOT: (None)

The morning during our path of exploration was uneventful to our luck, but the afternoon had a heavy rain to offer. While it is good for our health to drink, I notice the discomfort of wearing this armor with such temperatures and weather conditions. It feels like insects have made a home in my armor and cloth, everything itches! ... But for the sake of the lands, we must ... Press onwards ...!

And while we did, we were not disappointed when we caught the glimpse of Gat's suspicions. In the far distance of this heavy rain, we discovered two visible frost giants. Seated, and consuming their meal at what could be their camp. No wolves in sight what the distance could tell. Upon Gat's closer inspection of the footprints, he told us that he had noticed odd motion in the tracks of the third giant. He might potentially be sick from how he has been moving. And there might be reason for them to rest there for the third to recover.

We had decided to find a good hiding spot and keep an eye on them, until we had noticed them finding a more comfortable position for rest.

After the discovery of the third giant's health, a discussion began. The intention is to visit their camp and offer them help, however we do not know if they see us as a threat. The wolves are likely set as the guards of their camp. And closing in would potentially cause an uproar. One we mustn't risk. I had tried to reason with Gat to think twice about his reckless plans. I wish no death upon a man I have traveled with thus far. I had assumed the climate has affected his thoughts, but regardless made my attempts.

We do not know what decease it carries, if it's infectious, if it can be cured by our doings. And those same words, and those of others had him giving up on his enthusiasm toward chaos. With the giant sick and the remaining ones resting, we have decided to keep an eye on them as we set up camp in our hidden position. Nightfall came and allowed us rest.

Day 11: 30 > 29 Insect repellant. (Lasts for 24 hours) 6/6 Incense. (Lasts for 8 hours)
LOOT: Broken Frost Giant arrow, Wind Wolf fur.

A heavy rain woke us from slumber when we noticed the giants rise from theirs. All three of them got up their feet, and even the third seems to move like the others. It either recovered, or all three are weakened. None is out of the ordinary. Their camp is slowly abandoned by them. I had suggested to wait long enough, but not for the sun to rise that marks our afternoon. We mustn't waste too much time, nor leave too much of our scent behind for strangers to follow. Even in an exotic environment of exotic scents as this jungle.

As soon as we wished to approach their camp, we caught the movement of magically camouflaged Yuan-ti scouts hurrying to the same location as our destination. Taban had warned us not to approach them. These snake cursed humans carry no good stories with them in Chult either, and he fears that we might not have what it takes to beat these numbers of five.

We had decided to keep our position and our eyes on the enemy until they will leave. They, too, seemed to seek for something. Their fast pace, however, had them travel swiftly afterwards, away from the camp and heading toward the south-west, away from the direction in which the frost giants are heading into, which is south. Perhaps they return to their base to report or had discovered something.

We split up briefly to explore the safety of the camp, where Arden and Taban carefully approached. But when the sign was given, the rest followed. All is clear.

We caught a unpleasant display of a half eaten dinosaur, the size of what we had previously witnessed running away from ourselves. They tend to eat their meal raw, that much was confirmed by this sight. Fascinating, not a doubt. But honestly, what is it I know, I am the only human in our group. Quite a funny thought when I think about it.

Their meal has been caught with three separate cuts, and not far from it, we discovered a broken arrow. One approximately three times the length and size of a regular longbow arrow. This alone seems proof enough. We also discovered fur of the wolves, now identified as Wind wolves.

I cannot detect any remains of disease from the location. Perhaps it was exhausted from its travel in unfamiliar grounds. I do wonder how they ended up in a location such as the current.

This marks our completion and success, now, we must return to Port Beluarian to report to Flaming Fist Blaze, Liara Portyr. Our journey back has began and a light rain granted us its blessings.

Day 12: 29 > 28 Insect repellant. (Lasts for 24 hours) 6/6 Incense. (Lasts for 8 hours)
LOOT: (None)
NOTE: Discovery of a large scale ice spell that affects the landscape of a 120 ft radius

Our journey back is marked by a careful pace not to attract any dangerous encounters as we remove ourselves from the highly infested lands of undead. We were pleasantly surprised by a cool air that helped me to recover briefly from the climate. Finally it is much easier to breathe in contract to the humid air of the jungle, but ... We haven't left it?

Qawasha warned us that the air is unnatural, and of magical nature. And soon enough, we found the source in the distance. The land is covered in frost, and it seemed to cause the druid great distress. He considered it an abomination and requested our abilities to remove it from the lands. None of us has that ability. A radius of approximately 120 ft of snow was ahead of us, while it can be avoided from entering, our curiosity brought us closer.

A new discussion took place and we had made attempts to discover the reason and purpose of this winter climate. It must be a high level ability of a magician to manage such an impact of such scale. Aside from the cold, none of it seemed harmful to us.

What is also curious about it is the lack of footprints of the giants. A first thought would be that the frost giants might have created it, but as we remember, their trails were far from it. We do not know if it came after us, or if it was here before us. Another assumption of the group was that it could possibly be a portal from the wintery surroundings, but again, no footprints are to be found here. Its creation is a mystery.

Gat decided to shift his appearance into a brown bear with icy white stripes to mark his uniqueness. That had not only Taban gasping in surprise, but myself as well. It is impressive! I do not think that I would get used to such a magnificent display of a satyr changing into a bear or other creature.

His pace was swift when he traveled the ground of the unknown frost, and he returned moments later. He could not discover any source of a magical item or the sort that is responsible for this display. Not at the center of it, nor on his path toward it, but he could report that it was incredibly cold. (-30 Celsius) These might as well be the remains of a spell. A high level spell at that.

With no spells available for us to remove this "abomination" of nature, Qawasha has requested us to mark this location on our map for him to travel to with a magician friend instead. We can also confirm that this display is neither the work of an illusion magic by our combined senses.

We decided to leave it at that, and prepare for our journey to resume the travel by the coming of afternoon.

The rest of our day was uneventful as we resumed our path toward the highly infested area. Blessed with the flavor of water later in the day when it came to an end.

Day 5: 36 > 35 Insect repellant. (Lasts for 24 hours) 6/6 Incense. (Lasts for 8 hours)

We adjusted our course lightly, hoping to find the threat of undead near us in order to reduce their number significantly. But while we made our efforts, we were instead surprised by a scent that was difficult to define. Not only that, as soon as we neared the location on our map, our entire environment began to shift from a healthy appearance to a more sickly one. The plants and fauna seemed in a very bad condition, the appearance of it all, alone, could tell that staying too long in a single place could potentially make us sick. We pressed onwards.

An alarming buzzing sound in the distance had caught our movement and advanced toward us, making the buzzing louder and louder. We met a new appearance of threat

Small, but quick. Not quite a mosquito, especially not in size, however, not much difference. We are warned that if these creatures, by the name Stirges will attach to one's skin to consume their blood, it will not let go unless force is applied. Their fleshy tone makes it quite easy to track, especially in these dying surroundings. While these aren't particularly strong, they can be quite troublesome without a doubt.

With my blade drawn, I pray for a good outcome. The swarm approached us, and we were forced to battle. The swarm divided between both me and Naewarin, who quickly shifted into a dire wolf. I have NEVER seen such a thing, and I must be honest, I thought another enemy emerged from the depth the moment I had my eyes elsewhere. It was also to my luck that these creatures could not penetrate my armor in the slightest. With our combined forces, our offense stood no chance, and the battle met its end.

The afternoon had another surprise awaiting us, but there was a mild rain to grant us the blessing of water, before we walked past a cliff. More sound reached our ears, coming from the right of us where the rocky terrain was at. The sound of flapping wings.

I hadn't realized the mountain had holes in them, until we neared it. It was soon becoming clearer that bats laid their eyes upon us as well. As fast as both Taban and I could move, we made an attempt to block and distract these holes from the bats coming out. While we did so, they surrounded the two of us, and made their many attempts of striking us.

With the enemies distracted, our allies helped against the swarming threat, which gradually lowered their numbers. This, until their will to battle shattered, and the last few escaped our grasp. The battle came to an end.

Ever eventful as our day resumed. That evening, we walked past a river with the evermoving ground on which we stand. Covered with its many insects. While we are used to it by now at day five of our journey, today it went a little differently. A strange few swarmed around us and formed a struggle close to where Jasper was at. I had quickly stepped toward him in an attempt to assist with the threat.

We made quick work of them, thanks to the assistance of our numbers, but when the battle was over, the druids pointed out that we have faced a bigger threat than we may have imagined. These are violently venomous insects, and we are considered lucky that they hadn't had the chance to bite us in that moment. Juniper made mention of a so-called "Shivering sickness" disease that we had avoided this day. What a relief.

If it wasn't enough of a danger of a journey already, the night's heavy storm came to alert us of it just the same. No rest this day was granted to us, but it is to our luck that we had enough to drink.

Day 6: 35 > 34 Insect repellant. (Lasts for 24 hours) 6/6 Incense. (Lasts for 8 hours)
LOOT: 8 Ghoul heads (Stored: 4/4 Gat/Streth) VALUE: 20 gold per head (160 gold total)

The morning had no rain available for us, but the day sure had enough other things. While I hadn't heard it myself, Jasper said that he may have caught a glimpse of a similar species like him in the distance. It does not seem too unusual, given this place has many surprises for us to discover.

Qawasha said that he had indeed heard of Yuan-ti scouts being seen in these surroundings. Who and what they work for is yet to be discovered, but according to the fact that they had made a run away from our group, that they wish no troubles with us. Perhaps it are our numbers that had them intimidated.

When we continued our journey after having risen from our ... Less than comfortable camp due to the heavy storm, we soon were confirmed that we entered just the surroundings we needed. The rotten scent of meat and distant sound, that are even less pleasant to the ears confirmed that we have, indeed, found our target. A number of ghouls and another type of undead (Ghast) greeted us from the distance. It did not take them long to notice our presence as well.

I wonder why it is they can sense us in all honesty. Would they not be occupied with the scent of their own being? Hmm, perhaps it's the perfume that Arden used in battle against the stirge creatures of which I had also been sprayed by? I very much hope that I will not be set aflame like their kind!

Each of us moved in position when two spells were aimed at the enemy. With the group quite close, Gat managed to get some of them lit by a spell. A familiar one, that what they name the fire of faeries. Accompanied by the many vines that grew from the ground and bound some of them has allowed us a significant advantage

They appeared not to have any fear, when they strategically tried to surround us. Are they more than just mindless beings, or are they perhaps given orders by that larger threat in the center? Unsure what awaited us, I reached toward my pendant and utter my spell for guidance. Helm's protective powers surrounded me, and His presence calms me. We had to keep our numbers safe!

With guided strikes, and enough of a beating, we faced our enemy with success. I had caught a glimpse of Taban, who seemed to stop moving for a while as soon as the enemy reached him. While I am glad he moved soon after, I fear that he is unwell.

Was he paralyzed? I have heard that Jasper had the same experience. We must be wary of their teeth and claws!

We have been blessed this day with our survival, and with our enemy faced, the two druids we had in our company must return to Port Nyanzaru to refill their supplies and receive their next orders. However, we at first rest together to recover from what could have been yet another permanent death. We are allowed enough rain to refill our water supplies as well.

A relief. Hope is out there, we must hold faith in our quest and purpose.

A deadly monster blocked our path, known by its name "Assassin Vine" with a corpse near us to prove its deadliness. With no risks to afford, we accept the advice our expert guide gives us, and we backtrack our trail to safety. It was by our luck that no movement was noticed and that nothing went wrong. A mild rain accompanies us as we resume our travel toward our destination with the use of a different path.

Its humid air ever accompanying us, our damp clothing and hair. The thought of how Arden must feel with his fur only adds more burden onto my shoulders. It worsens with the day, I can tell. While my health still remains in good shape, I notice the lack of helpful rest, but it is only a minor complication in comparison to what the rest of the lands may face.

Distracted by my thoughts as I was, we were surprised when two large snakes (Jaculi) flew in our direction in an attempt to strike us. Immediately, we forced ourselves in position while our guide withdrew himself. While threatened by their size, with Taban's skill, even these pose a minor threat. It was a relief.

During the evening, we came past a statue of the Chultan King Ubtao. As I had read from a few books, an important figure. He is a patron Deity of Chult and ruled over Chult 1000 years ago. Yet, here bound in place by many vines. Arden's skillful eye had recognized a small inscription and eventually a warding glyph. However, the touch of the statue will result in a loud sound, Qawasha warned us as soon as he remembered. He had urged us to take distance not to draw the attention of wildlife.

Later on, we had found ourselves a good place for rest. What a relief ...

Day 338 > 37 Insect repellant. (Lasts for 24 hours) 6/6 Incense. (Lasts for 8 hours)
LOOT: Obtained Girallon fur and teeth. Obtained snake skin x2

By the rising of the sun, our path was lit for the next day of travel to come. Our journey resumed but it was not uneventful. Surprised, we were, to hear the sound of a large creature. Loud breathing. Our guide again had warned us of the enemy and the urge to avoid it. Why that was, became clearer by the next moments.

Girallons, he names them. An ape-like species with four arms and incredibly aggressive once its territory has been trespassed. Which happened to be the case when we carefully made our attempt to hurry to safety. Jasper had not only drawn its attention, but he absent mindedly walked into one of them. Immediately, each of us had their weapons drawn when the large gorilla made itself known through instinctive behavior.

Two of them are in total, a true threat and I had witnessed their strength, even if most of their hits had failed their connections. It is Helm who guided my blade this day, that much I can tell by the blessing. Our survival is also within Taban's skillful hands, who assisted us through the danger and aided, once again, our cause. We made it ... Relief spread, but it was soon taken by another large enemy.

A t-rex it is named. A large reptile we could see from the distance. And its distance worked in our favor when we hid away from its sight. Merging in the scent of the environment to mask ours. Holding our breath, not to have it witness our presence. A successful escape.

A gentle rain, while hot to the touch, greeted our evening, and so did another dinosaur. I could only see its back, but it appeared to be eating. The distress on Qawasha face and his hasty words reminded us, again, of the danger it may hold to us. I haven't seen creatures this large and neither in such quantity before. It appears that all I lie my eyes upon is enormous. Perhaps it are my senses taking me hostile. It is this heat, it is difficult to bear ...

We avoided distracting it from eating, and made it to safe grounds for the morning sun to rise ...

Day 4:  37 > 36 Insect repellant. (Lasts for 24 hours) 6/6 Incense. (Lasts for 8 hours)
LOOT: 8 Ghoul heads obtained (4/4 Gat/Streth)

Light rain introduced us to yet another day, along with steady footsteps in our camp's direction. All of us had hurried to get its traces removed, and hid from sight, however our attempts had failed when the cloaked people neared us.

They announced their presence and intention, and it was not to harm us. When the two revealed themselves to us, and recognized our guide, they confirmed that they are of the "Emerald Enclave" as the emblem on their cloak proudly present. It aligns with his group, and so did their passion for the destruction of undead.

A male elf by the name Naewarin Ahren, and a gnome lady, named Juniper Shadowtalker of the Emerald Enclave. They tell us that they traveled here from Port Nyanzaru.

This meeting is not only of surprise, but it is also a positive encounter. Our missions appears to align. It is to slaughter the undead, and after we had confirmed that none had yet come past our path, they insist on joining our forces as we head southern toward the infestation. Perhaps it is fate that connected our paths ...

Thank You for Your blessing these days, Helm. May our coming days be in our favor, and of that of the people.

After the combat, we approached the checkpoint of the Flaming fists. They seemed already eager to take us from half our precious possessions. Knowing that we hold possession of the jewelry of the shamanic enemy, Jasper put up a show to give them a distraction. Posing a big inconvenience on their task.

With their attention briefly drawn, and their frustrations already grown, their attention moved onto Smuck, who had warned them about possible explosive experiences by searching the bags. After all, we were told to place them in their reach to search through. When Smuck revealed gun powder, they were taking their distance, regardless of their arrogance with the first warning. Upon realizing this mistake, they cooperated, and let Smuck instead handle it. With not much to show and being a potential danger, they requested him to stop. It was enough.

With none to offer from me, Gat and Arden either, their attention returned to Jasper, who they commanded to cooperate. Which he did. Instead of placing his bag down for their search, he turned it upside down, and let all tools fall from the bag. It seems to last multiple moments for all to fall to the ground with the excessive amount of tools, until marbles bounced down the ground and scattered around. Enough to cause one of the Flaming Fists to make a fall. He yelled out, and told the rest of us to simply leave already, skipping both Shago and Taban. Taban is the one who wore this precious jewelry, but it suits him quite fine.

We arrived at Port Nyanzaru safely. Upon arrival, we discussed the plan for Shago to find safety while we meet up with Merchant Prince(ss) Kwayothé. Shago assured that he will be safe, and knows his way around the location. If we intend to find him again, he told us to speak with the innkeeper of the Thundering Lizard Inn. Shago intends to meet up with this person every once in a while to check for messages for him.

He left us, to find safety, after Gat gave his goodbye and Shago assured him that all will be fine. This did not end without another self promotion on Shago's side. We must indeed remember that Shago is number one. He has, in fact, kept us safe. May he remain safe.

Our next destination was the mansion of Kwayothé for our ... What may be final judgment. This had fear display in the eyes of my men, and I had told them that I could head there on my own. After all, the letter was written in my name, not that of anyone else. I said to them, assured them that all would be fine. However, the men insisted to come along, for survival exists in numbers alone. I did agree, however, our mission is of higher survival, and if this survival is threatened by the lack of a whole group, then we mustn't take the risk. Again, they refuse to let me head off on my own. I am most pleased by their commitment, but worry for their safety, still.

Together, we headed toward the mansion. Greeted, we were, by the appearance of two, well equipped guardsmen at the gate. With our written promise to meet lady Kwayothé, they allowed us passage. Freed of our weapons at the entrance, we were guided to the waiting room.

Arden played a comfortable tune to which I hummed, and I felt very in-tune with the music. Hahah! Get it?

But the mood was pressing, all knew that we may not have a pleasant conversation, however, I felt confident with my decision. I must keep Shago and everyone else safe at all cost. I shall not let evil threaten us. Shago is not a man that carries enough guilt that he must die. If we cannot save one man, then we must save the other. That passion alone had my tone increasing, until the door opened up and the three walked in. The speechless pair, and the lady in between the two. As if decorated by a chain of hands.

Kwayothé her stern, raised gaze was resting upon each of us. To ease up the situation, and make our verbal battle equal, I welcomed her to the room with a kind greeting. She hadn't felt urged to return this, and demanded answers after the conclusion fell that we had failed. Disgusted with our betrayal of her arrogant faith in us to hand her the head of her chosen victim. Ruthlessness meets no end with the behavior of this woman. Life holds little value to those who mark themselves of royalty through titles.

She had asked me if we had found Shago. Her fierce gaze resting upon me without a break. I recall not if she had blinked. It was pressing. I had made an attempt to describe our journey to confuse her search for truth, but I was interrupted in this attempt. Again, she demanded answers if we had indeed met a man named Shago. Recalling the description of the drunk men at the Thundering Lizard Inn, they painted an image through description, of an older individual in his early forties. I was in fact, surprised to see such a young individual. With this knowledge, I held tightly onto my beliefs for truth. May Helm bless our safety in the lion's nest.

I had told her, that we have not met a man named Shago who met the description we were given. It is truth I had spoken. Lady Kwayothé made mention to her female servant's name, but no orders given. Perhaps they are connected by mind or habit. Ixis(?) she names her, approached me. Her eyes felt intense, passionate ... They felt hypnotizing. Once she neared me, I could see her hand reaching toward my cheek. Uncertain of the purpose of this gesture, I react with wary and prompted for her to explain herself, however, her clarification did not come, and her motion did not halt. I led my hand to her wrist, to halt the connection, only for her second hand to reach for mine, and lead it to her cheek.

Not to pose a threat, I allowed this to happen. Upon touch, I felt my mind weaken, as if shaken and torn from reality. A disconnection. I recalled my decision, my mission, and the reason for being and recollected myself. I broke free from the attempt. A spell of charm. I had taken offense to that, my eyes led toward Lady Kwayothé. Smuck and Arden had recognized the same, and pointed this out. The lady seems entirely unbothered by their reactions.

She was not done with me. Angered by our failure, turning the story and make it sound like this was her task assigned to us for completion. That, with certainty on her side that we could not provide. However, I halted her in her speech. I told her that we came with the quest to keep our word. We are respected by the Prince Merchant, and seek no trouble. We had accepted the task in order to help another, not by choice, it was forced upon us. The letter was proof that this is, in fact, our word that is kept.

Kwayothé did recognize that, for which I had thanked her. She appears not entirely lost to the deepest abyss in her blind rage yet. Hope remains. Then she had asked me once again, if we had told anyone of this mission. Again, I sorted my thoughts. I mustn't make mention of the exclusive number of all who are present. Shago is a part of us. With that, I responded that it was only our team who has heard of it, of which he is included. No lie spoken. Not once. No words unnecessary mentioned for prying.

Nervous, I was, but relieved when her gaze left my body to gaze the others in the room. None of us had lost our posture enough to catch her attention. Her servant was called back for their decorative chain to be reconnected. It is done, she had announced. The guards were called in to guide us outdoors. The war for survival, we had won it. We mustn't be caught with Shago, but what I have learned from this conversation is ... That Merchant Prince(ss) Kwayothé is familiar with Shago, she hasn't simply assigned a random man to meet his demise. What is it that she has against this individual? Are we missing information? We know not, and may not ever find out ...

We headed to the inn for a night, and had taken it easy to relax from that pressing situation. Baths taken, and the map completed! In the evening, we discussed our plans. Which is to leave Shago in the safety of his own methods for us to earn enough gold. We'd travel back to Port Beluarian to find the guide named Qawasha, a druid with his vegepygme companion. We need to battle the undead.

The next day, we began our journey back. Our travel was at a slower pace than it was last time, but with less of a worry than on our way toward Port Nyanzaru, we moved steadily.

Day 1 : A safe and comfortable travel

Day 2 : Two dinosaur creatures came toward us with their gaze fixated upon us. We hurried away and hid for them to leave once they lost sight of us, provided by Gat's skilled thinking.

Day 3 : A safe travel

Day 4 : 3 large, but distant creatures cause the distant land to shake with their steps. We made no contact, but the sound allowed us to recognize their numbers and advancement through frequency of steps. Two feet. We hid, to ensure our safety once again. And hurried onwards.

Day 5 : Due to the tropical storm, we had no encounters, but neither enough rest. Enough not to feel too exhausted for travel.

Day 6 : By our quick pace, the morning allowed us entrance to the safety of Port Beluarian's walls.

The guards at the post had recognized us, and allowed us entrance with no hassle. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the druid who approached us. Knowing that we came looking for him. He had said that the spirits had informed him of our decision. I could feel my jaw drop with fascination. It is indeed true! Such honor to meet a man so deeply connected with the spirits of the lands. Perhaps his wisdom can truly keep us safe. He already knew our task, it required not much interaction for each of us to know the next step.

He had prepared himself to leave, giving his farewell to the surrounding spirits, and obtaining his belongings, before we set out on our journey once again. To meet the enemies of life, the undead, and bring their suffering to an end, and safety to the living. May none of us fall prone to their jaws of transformation.

Our journey began toward the jungle, but we are not with any experience. He warned us of the conditions of the region. Rest is not to be expected, a luxury not to be had by those unfamiliar by the conditions. But it holds lessons, ones that Gat is excited to learn. May all of us learn the ways of the jungle before all is too late. The people rely on us.

We advanced beyond the borders that separated the jungle from our path, and from here on out, we must travel with caution.

Day 1 : While the travel is uneventful by the number of encounters, we were plagued by the insects, regardless of the repelling effect of our supplies. We obtained not much rest, but enough to push on. 40 > 39 Insect repellant. 6/6 Incense.

Day 2 : We rose from our ... Uncomfortable bedrolls in the weather conditions for another day. The use of both map and skill of our druids led us closer toward our destination, until a scent halted us. A scent of a corpse. If it moves, we know not. With our attention aimed at our expert, he knew what to do. He told us not to proceed our advancement, and given command to his companion, Kupalué. The creature place both its palms onto the ground, as if to sense the situation of this potential threat. Once its palms lifted, it gestured toward its master. Qawasha turns his head toward us and said that this is a corpse of an assassin named Vine, whose body was dragged inside the jungle. Are we familiar with this person, he asks.

An assassin named Vine?! ... Had we ever learned of the other man's name at Port Nyanzaru? Or it the one we saw at the hill?

39 > 38 Insect repellant. (Lasts for 24 hours) 6/6 Incense. (Lasts for 8 hours)

I pray to You, Helm, for the safety of our numbers and for the end of the curse to come ... Allow us not lose sight of our objective, may we guide the light back toward the land, for mornings to come, and restore hope to the people.

(Day 11) With the terrain below us moving strangely, our attention was drawn away from the enemy that awaited us up the hill.

With aimed precision, the lizardfolk that have gathered from each our corners aimed their javelins at us. Their first target being Arden, who took a rough hit. In these times of uncertainty, the rabbitfolk reached for a potion to rely on the secure workings of the medicine. To our sides, more enemies made their appearance, and among them, an unusual one emerged. Decorated with many jewelries and cloth that matches the appearance of a shaman or druid.

The ground that was previously moving unusually, grew large vines with thorns attached, that cornered us into the tight space in which we stood. Each move would be a certain hit. Some of us have no ability to protect themselves from a distance, unfortunately, I am among their numbers. Shago was the first to move away from the location, followed by myself and Taban, while Gat, ArdenSmuck and Jasper made an attempt to keep the attacks coming to keep them at bay. Enough of their successful hits put us to an advantage while the three of us got within reach. When everything seemed to work in our favor, the shaman removed the field of thorns, not by our distractive attempts, but to prioritize a new strategy.

The chanting and motioning of their staff formed two, yet unknown creatures to appear next to the enemy. Over time, these revealed themselves to be large brown bears. A threat, not a doubt, yet they are none, but summoned creatures built by magic. My aim remained with the spellcaster. Though that one, too, began to shift shape. Gaining in height and width when suddenly, a large crocodile became our opponent instead.

Rather intimidating from up close.

I reached toward my amulet to channel the powers of Torm within me, and request for guidance to protect my companions. Even when standing close to two, highly capable men like Taban and Shago. I mustn't die. I may not, and I cannot yet rest. It is an honor to fight by their side, but it is our mission that we must complete.

With my aura fueled by Torm's blessing, my blade guided me to bring an end to the offense. Our combined strikes landed on the shaman alone, who lost concentration on the spell, that caused the bears to vanish into nothingness. Soon to be followed by the crocodile itself, with a loud thud it falls by the powerful strikes of Taban.

With our combined effort, the light of Gat's bolt, the fire of Smuck's unusual fire casting object the enemy fell to its knees in the previous shape. The battle is over. We are safe, as destined to be.

Good work, everyone! It is an honor to stand by your side! May we fight many more battles together.

REWARDS : Shaman's jewelry, 107 EXP
SPENT : -1 minor healing potion
PLANNING : Visit Port Nyanzaru to visit the local markets to sell the jewelry to a collector and report to Kwayothé. Perhaps check for easy jobs to earn money with to pay Shago. Will we take the druid along to battle the undead?

(Day 5) At the flaming Fist's fort, Gruta Halsdottir guided us to her commander. She who has an ambition to dominate the terrain beyond the borders and its fearful threats. She introduces herself as the Flaming Fist Blaze, Liara Portyr. This position translates to the major of the Flaming Fist, a very high rank.

She offers us many tasks as adventurers, to which she can promise us a charter in return for. Rather than simply paying the 50 gold for it.

Task 1 : Ghoul Hunting

Obtain the heads of ghouls in return for 20 gold per head. Always be aware of its jaw.

Task 2 : Scouting Shilku Bay

We are provided a ship for travel to explore the Southwestern (SW) side of the continent as visible at our map. We may come across the Turtle dragon, however the Flaming Fist superior assures us that it only aims for the larger ships to obtain more gold from. (especially noble kind)

Task 3 : Investigate strange footprints

South of Fort Beluarian, near the highly infested region of the undead, there are large footprints found. Liara Portyr would like to know where this creature comes from, and if it poses a threat.

As we discuss these tasks, and reveal our interests for task number 1, as we are told that we may encounter them on our way between Fort Beluarian and Port Nyanzaru, she offers us a charter with full trust that we will not betray it. We agree to the task, and intend to do our best upon the sworn words of Smuck, yet assigns me, Streth Evira, the leadership position. I find it quite funny, but I do appreciate it. I have been doing a good job, have I not? Haha! ...

Smuck's interests in fire aligns with the Flaming Fists' ranks and their commander seems interested in the "dwarf" to join their cause. He seems fascinated already, merely by the promise of fire-based titles. Such decisions aren't yet made, but who knows what may come.

We left the building and are led back to the markets where we are to wait for the charter to be made. Shago has eyed us from a distance and made yet another attempt to convince us to take him. We did eventually do that, upon the agreement that he will be paid per day, rather than thirty days in advance. This price is 5 Gold per day.

He warned us not to take the druid with us, adding some fierce crusades or the like against the undead, along with the mentioning of being dragged into their highly infested region and potentially dying. From what I could catch from Gat, there was truth in his words, but I doubt a man like him would go through such lengths.

Our plan is to keep an eye on Shago and travel to Port Nyanzaru to keep the promise and watch if this man does anything suspiciously. Shago leaves to obtain his goods for travel as we head to the well for refreshments and talk with the druid. He seems to have already heard the news, of which Shago made him clear of. He wasn't quite pleased by the odd rumors that Shago told about him, and would like a word with him sometime. I do hope that no one gets hurt ... He also assures us that he is quite familiar with the undead, and can always be found here at Fort Beluarian.

With the charter obtained and Shago's return, we gave our goodbyes and left for the journey.

Day 6 : Entirely uneventful, medium rain, double movement

Day 7 : Heavy wind, which improves over time, uneventful, double movement

Day 8 : Heavy rain, which eventually grew better, and a mild wind that grew strong. Equally uneventful and regular pace.

Day 9 : This morning when we close in to Port Nyanzaru, I am told to address the situation to Shago. I was least prepared for such confrontation, yet I gathered my strength and did address it. Shago swears that he has never done anything on multiple occasions, but I could tell that he is hiding something. However, when it was addressed who is involved, he got startled. We learned that Shago lived in Port Nyanzaru for 20 years and has friends there, yet nobody knows anything of him. It was quite odd, perhaps not a popular individual. It was truthful that he indeed never got involved with the merchant prince(ss) in the slightest.

At that point, we needed to convince him that we will indeed not kill him. It was never the plan in my opinion. I'd rather not get involved with such matters. If Kwayothé wishes someone gone, I am quite certain that she has her ways. According to Shago, Fort Beluarian is much less safe for him to be than Port Nyanzaru, so he assures us that when we wish to enter, that he will be fine.

With that conversation taking place, we continued a steady pace. Shago was up front and keeping a sharp eye.

Day 10 : Heavy rain which gradually lessens. Equally uneventful.

Day -1 (11) : (Encounter . . .)

NOTES: If the charter is lost, a new one can always be obtained at the commander. The charter is a scroll assigned to the leader of a group that allows passage to the jungle by the Flaming Fists rules. We believe that the merchant princess' is making an attempt to rid the Flaming Fists off their continent, by putting us in trouble with the murder of their new recruit, but we are uncertain. The Flaming Fists aren't loved by the people. Perhaps she thinks of Shago is a traitor for joining the Flaming Fists if he has indeed lived for 20 years in Port NyanZaru.

9 DAYS REMAINING . . .

(Day 1) After we woke up after calling it an early night, we let ourselves enjoy the final meal in the morning and began our journey. With four water skins and a rain catcher on each our persons, we felt much more secure, and we headed out. Our days of travel are limited within the expectations of our assumed ally. However, I do feel awful about participating in these matters, those we are warned not to engage in. Though if lives can be spared, we could as well make an attempt to avoid it.

Upon leaving Port Nyanzaru, we approached a Flaming Fists' checkpoint as we neared the jungle's entrance, but chose not to head in that direction. Our only interaction was an exchange of smiles, however theirs felt ... Odd. Greedy. It is to our luck that we took a different turn to head toward one of their camps.

Our first day of travel seemed to be without trouble, until a group of flying monkeys came flying toward us. With Taban's warning, we held tightly onto our belongings as the monkeys reach with their open palms toward these. Gat and Jasper were least lucky, when they took a hold of Jasper's tools, and Gat's insect repellent. Things we could not afford, but with a swift crossbow and frost attack, they obtained their belongings back and we have obtained survival materials with their demise. Unfortunate, but such is the way of nature.

That evening, we were surprised with a heavy storm. Its strong winds made the waters rise to dangerous levels for travel if one would explore the sea. The heavy rain provided us with enough fluids for the night, but the lack of rest, even in shelter, happened to be a part of its burdens. All until the mornings to come. The monkeys tasted like chicken, it was quite a surprise ... Even if Taban refused to try.

(Day 2) With the coming of the next day, the weather calmed down a little. A cooler temperature, the absence of wind, but a heavy rain regardless. The travel was without event, after we let a winged snake pass toward the jungle. Taban warned us not to attack it. It did not fly, but that may be the rain that makes this difficult. The evening was equally uneventful to our luck. Our fast pace allowed us to cover a lot of ground until we made way toward the coast. Here, we set up camp and boiled sea water for drinking, and caught fish for dinner. We managed to get enough rest.

(Day 3) As our travel resumes and we neared the Fort's region, we caught a large creature fly past us, high above the heavens above. A red dragon, typically evil and highly dangerous. It flew South-East toward the mountain region, behind Port Nyanzaru. Perhaps it lives there ... We hid ourselves just in case ... And hope for it not to have noticed our presence ...

Again, we took a rest near the coast, fished and boiled our water. I started whistling songs! It's been very cheerful thus far!

(Day 4) Today it was a normal temperature for this region, or so we assumed it to be. There was a light rain and some wind. Quite refreshing after the last few days. I pray my armor will not rust under these conditions ...

During our travel, we noticed a stranger standing at the cliff. It seems to glance toward the coast. May this person be awaiting something or someone? They seemed to be dressed like a hunter, with a tail, like a tabaxi, Jasper told me. I simply waved at them to reveal that we are no threat, and it was returned. We could not recognize them, but neither did we engage. Our travel resumed toward the borders of Fort Beluarian, where we set up camp nearby and prepared ourselves to enter the fort.

(Day 5) The morning came with a mist. The brief travel to our destination was a safe one. The people at the entrance greeted us. Eight guards and a woman who seemed associated with the group. Flaming Fist territory. From here on, let us be on our guard and not make enemies. She demanded for us to state our business in the location. But with the Charter mentioned, it is clear that we cooperate with them. However, she seemed curious about our reason for travel, in ways that the title of adventurers did not meet her liking. It is normal for these people to wonder, but will the mentioning of the Death Curse work in our favor?

I told her that I cannot provide her information that our map won't reveal. After all, it is incomplete, no lies have been told, but our mission is not spoken of. Besides our mission, aren't we here for adventure as well?

The lady has introduced herself as Gruta Halsdottir, she has long, silver hair and seemed like a figure of authority around this place. I introduced myself kindly, but avoided the introduction of others to keep our business as simple as possible. She invited us in and guided us toward their local bazaar.

We were surprised by the appearance of horses in the jungle, as they won't provide an easier travel in these terrains. However, Lady Halsdottir told us that they are used for entertainment and games. It seems not easy to remain stationed in such a remote place, but she has complained about their diet that endangers their food supplies

As we are brought within the circle of merchants, Smuck seemed curious about finding what he names explosives. There was an indescribable look on the lady her face, but she answered that he may be lucky to find it at the mines south of Fort Beluarian. Then, we are told to wait where we are brought as she makes contact to her commander for instructions.

As we are left alone, an unfamiliar person approaches us with a dark skin tone, short hair and youthful enthusiasm. This was related to the fact that we are adventurers with a plan to head into the jungle. With the absence of a guide, his eyes began to light up. He introduced himself with Shago who is indeed with the Flaming Fist. The new recruit.

He is the man we need to take down in the name of Kwayothé, the merchant prince(ss). Why? We won't be able to tell from simply his introduction, but he appears powerful. Seemingly eager to guide us, he cannot stop promoting himself until he is interrupted by an older individual. This man is Qawasha and has a smaller companion with him that resembles a mix of plant and monkey. They are named Vegepygme, and this creature's name is Kupalué. The druid criticizes Shago's lack of experience, but is certain of the man's strength as he did promote it. Broad and muscular.

When I had said that we might not be able to afford them, Qawasha said that not everyone requires payment in gold, perhaps he has different motivations to join our cause. He can be found at the Pond of this location. When Shago went his way, we were left alone for a brief discussion.

How is it that Shago is targeted, indeed? He has confessed that not all his work experiences as guide went as expected as some have died during travel, but not all. We can't say for certain what truly is the case with him and his string of guild that he carried with him. Perhaps some of Port Nyanzaru's people were killed by accident, or there is a much longer history to them.

Arden warned that it might be the case that Shago lures unknowing travelers into the dangers and obtains their wealthiest possessions before seeking for the next adventurers. From that perspective, it seems a simple choice for us to seek aid from the druid. Though with our mission present, we may need to bring along Shago to discuss the situation. Perhaps we can avoid death as a whole, but I wish not to be guilty of getting this man killed. No man should be killed.

But haven't the people said that Shago is a man in his late forties? ... Perhaps they spoke of a different person. He seems rather young.

. . .

Moments later, Gruta returned to come and pick us up. She led us deeper inside their encampment, toward a garden with a large, wooden statue of a popular person. Grand Duke Ulder Ravengard, a man of Baldur's Gate. Surrounded by the elements of nature. The kind lady guided us farther in, where we noticed the raptors we had fought and other dinosaur creatures that are kept like horses in stables. An unusual sight, but not for Chult.

I wonder what the commander has to tell us . . .

"In the morning I heard Smuck build something, he named it an experimental weapon with which he intends to set the buildings ablaze. Those that are like warehouse fourteen, or rather "the fun house" as the cheerful drunk would name it.

Smuck and I had a talk over the usage of this weapon, and had made a deal that he would only use it after my approval, but hold me responsible in return. I was delighted to agree, if only he wouldn't use his saliva between our grasp to carve it in stone.

After a brief pause to wash my hands of the sticky texture of his remains, we set foot toward the Temple of Savras to visit Master Head priest Zitembe to receive message from the divine. Upon arrival, we were greeted kindly and invited to speak to the man and listen to his vision. He warns us, much to our expectations, that Nanny Pu'pu carries malice in her word and will

However, he paused, there is a strand of gold, he told us. A sign of hope, but our resolve shall be tested. We mustn't take risks if we feel ourselves falter. She may be a powerful ally, or become a powerful foe that shall forever make us descent down the stairs of the eternal void.

This man, he was exhausted, and I doubt him not. That vision, we are told, it was taxing on his wellbeing. He needs rest. We thanked him kindly and assured him to do the right thing before we left. With our mind set to journey to the jungle after obtaining the charter, a man disrupts our journey with a desperate plea for help.

He reached toward me. Yelling he needs help, because they have set their eyes on him and ensure his death. What reason, we wished to know, and after being guided toward a place far from ears to reach, he has told us. Amala, an old man dressed in colorful cloth, shared us his enthusiasm for color and dye, however, it was with the usage of a poisonous fruit. One banned by the merchant prince(ss) whose people are now familiar with his deed against their laws.

He names it the "Monkey Dance" or something along those lines. Confusing at most by merely the sound of its name. I had asked him if it has killed others. He assured he us he hasn't, and it is merely poisonous upon consumption, which is neither the case. It is used for the colors. He begged us to accompany him to the merchant prince(ss) where he will confess to his deeds.

Amala said that he found a coin of the Ytepka at his doorstep in the morning, which refers to a society within the city that appears to closely communicate with the merchant princess.

I am convinced that upon realization that death is wrong, one should deserve a second chance to do better. Teach others to learn from his mistakes. I feel that his intentions are innocent, yet he seeks recognition and influence through it. Which would likely interfere with the merchant princes as well, perhaps an exchange or offer could make them consider. If it is merely poisonous when consumed, why else would it be banned, I wonder?

Smuck and Arden demanded payment for the trouble, which he could give in advance. Five gold pieces for us to carry twenty-five to follow upon arrival to his home.

With that settled, we hurried to the merchant princess' guards that allowed us passage for a brief wait under their roof as the heavy rain partially floods the streets.

Not much later, we were met with the presence of this important woman, Kwayothé and her two ... Guards? I noticed their glance in our direction, a smile I cannot quite understand, but they looked very beautiful to the eye. Man and woman, one at each side, caressing the lady who spoke. Her tongue was sharp, her words could cut flesh as she declares the man for dead. However, there is a chance, she tells Amala, the one guilty of breaking the law. He rose his head with eyes of glistering hope as she speaks of a trade. One life for a life.

Amala must ensure the death of another for his own survival. Named "Shago", but she hesitates to speak of this man's crimes, when her gaze meets us. One who kills and disobeys their law. She spoke of him as the most inferior man that dares to continue standing and used his strength to flee to the jungle.

We must find him and put an end to his life in order to save Amala. I fear breaking my oath without true confirmation. She tells us to avoid speaking of the deed once it is committed for reasons unknown.

When Arden asked Kwayothé, the merchant prince(ss), about the forbidden fruit and adds that it could have been sold to the poor man, she turns toward us. The woman told us that it is not only poisonous, but it is potent in magic. If it lands in the wrong hands, this city would descent into chaos. And those who had sold it are already dealt with, she said.

I feared asking what she meant by those words, but I was stuck with the moment our eyes met, when she assigned us, strangers, this mission. I was not allowed to speak during the meeting. They fear getting involved, and without anyone their interference, we are involved regardless. An awful turn of events.

We have 10 days of time to find this man and put an end to his life  . . .

We had taken our leave and are promised assistance from Amala, who begged us to cooperate, yet I fear doing the wrong thing. Taban has never met this man and has lived for his entire life inside the borders of Port Nyanzaru. It seems odd, but I doubt with a city this large, it is difficult to know each the people that live inside. Perhaps it's more of an indirect contact which they had shared? ... Would a murderer truly get away without having his name known, I wonder ...

With Amala leaving to find information about Shago, we, too, headed to find more information. First, we headed to the Old City to speak to Pock-Marked Po, the beggar prince. Unfortunately, he knows nothing, but is willing to lend his help to gather information. They have never heard of such a man. When our travel continued to the crowded Thundering Lizard Inn, we found some helpful leads

The mentioning of the name Shago led to a Flaming Fist insider, who told us that Shago is a new recruit. Also something we had heard bypassing, but drunk Flaming Fist men speak of, however not the mentioning of the name.

A new recruit, I see. Perhaps it is true that he fled from the city. When Smuck had asked these people about his more violent tendencies, they laughed. "He wouldn't hurt a fly!"

It would seem like we can find this man at Port Beluarian when we obtain our Charter of Exploration. No matter the route of our journey, we must obtain this token of travel. We must see this person for ourselves. Not trust the words of simply everyone. The image of innocence is twisted in the eye of the wealthy, of that I am aware. I wish not for blood on my blade whose blood is innocent. I wish neither death for anyone. Perhaps there is an outcome in which both may live.

Ten days of time. The travel will take five days to reach it, with five days of our return. Difficult, we may not make it in time. We must neither travel recklessly. To ensure that the lady hears of this, I wrote her a letter and pray for a good outcome. We ensured to make no mention of our location, nor a guarantee of an outcome.

Each day matters for the upcoming ten days, and the guilt that we may carry of the outcome, it shall not be easy. Regardless of what we do, but to turn a blind eye to the helpless, that is something I cannot bear witness to."

The letter (collectively agreed to)

Dear merchant prince(ss) Kwayothé,

We have obtained information about this person by the name Shago and will begin our journey toward the location we have been told to find him. Our travel shall be by foot, and work toward meeting again at the 10th day we are given. We ask for your patience for our arrival at this day, as we cannot promise an exact time of day.

Thank you kindly,

Streth Avira and his companions.

"After passing the torch to the group, I stepped forth and made my presence known to the nearby enemy. This to lure them from its shelter and witness it. It was the lack of light that complicated our visit to this part of the warehouse. It soon became clear what we were facing.

Undead creatures ... Zombies to be specific.

It was only a moment before they noticed our presence, and with our weapons drawn, we were forced into battle. Guarded by Torm's light, I fought as a warrior in His name. Each of us did their utmost best to fight for our victory in this struggle.

The scent that spread from the corner released and made attempts to mess with our minds. While it passed my awareness, Taban's loud reaction brought my attention to Smuck who seemed to have lost his mind first and sought out the source of the scent.

As the battle resumed, and the enemies fell to their knees, one after the other ... We discovered that the true threat is the flower. One of a yellow color. It seemed to affect many of our men, who luckily snapped out of its delusional game.

. . .

Gradually, our battle came to an end, after with a few, calculated swings that caused the flower to wither. With our attention at the crate from which it grew.

Not far away from it, we found crate number seven, the one we were looking for all along. Was it a trap? Has someone tried to send us to our deaths? Who knows what the flower would have done if its vines would have struck ...

We opened up the crate from which it grew and peeked inside, but there was only soil. Crate number sixty-six. It was intended to be placed here, intended to be among these crates by someone's doing. Speculations took place among our group's members, and there was a concerning sight of Smuck making an attempt to clean the floor from the plant's pollen ... With his tongue.

We obtained our crate, and made our path back toward where we came. It was during the battle that we heard the tossing and rolling of crates that blocked our passage back up the stairs. A clear attempt to trap us, unlikely done by a monster. A planned assassination. Wary as we were, our path cleared and we headed back toward the higher ground. No enemy in sight. We found the door from which we came, but it seemed different from how we remembered it.

Not only that, the door was barricaded. With combined strength, Taban and I broke through the door and met the fresh air of the outdoors.

Something was off. Much like the door that seemed completely different, the very moment we looked over our shoulders, we noticed that the building looked much older than it was when we entered. No guards in sight. Everything is different now.

The sound of laughter drew our attention to a group of drunk people. With crate number seven within our grasp, we approached these individuals for questioning. While their information may not be reliable, they appear convincing about some things they told us. They name Warehouse number fourteen the "Fun House"

The man told us how it appears to change for people, as for him, he found liquor inside, but adventurers, he said, they find adventure. It is much like it provides what the person seeks for. While odd, I have little reason to question much of it, as I have witnessed something rather unexplainable with mine own, two eyes. Not only that, he had said that a group of adventurers once entered the warehouse and hasn't returned since. Those undead ... Could they be ...?

We hurried back to the Merchant's Ward to where we found the merchant with the lack of wares, but as soon as we returned ... She was nowhere to be found. Her stall, it wasn't there. Like an illusion ... Our attention shifted to the crate at hand. I had asked Arden to make an attempt at a sketch of this woman as a proof, or perhaps a wanted poster. It may be that she is causing more trouble for the people in the future. We know too little ...

Arden made an absolute magnificent piece of it, but while I'd love to admire it more than I had, we had a crate in possession that needs inspection. I handed my valuables to my peers and headed away from the group to check the insides of the crate. Not expecting to be surprised by a trap, a set of needles was aimed toward my head. While uncomfortable, it seemed only a warning sign, rather than something that could be a threat.

With the trouble gone, I found a nicely decorated box from the crate and lifted it outside. After having confirmed that it contains no traps, I gestured toward the others to come. We could not detect any magic from neither the gems inside, nor the box itself. Is it truly a treasure, a reward for our survival? But did it not sound like fruit before? ... How odd.

With it being a mere box of valuables, we simply sold it to the merchants, for they can make better use of it rather than us. Those adventurers that may have been turned into undead, could it be that they were sent by that lady as well? ...

We headed toward mister Wakanga's villa to report him about our finds. After a moment of rest in the waiting room, and Jasper's kind assistance of removing the needles from my face, he arrived to listen to our story.

We presented the art and trinket with our experience and inform him about the potential threat and existence of this warehouse for future troubles. He has mentioned something of a curse and needed confirmation about the flower we saw. It indeed did match the illustration of the book. He warned us of its true threat and a collective gasp was heard among us. We must memorize its smell and be wary of it. The scent of fruit, some may say spoiled fruits. Not exactly the most pleasant scent, but a sweet scent that may dull our minds, especially Smuck's.

It was a wonder we survived, Wakanga concluded and ... Truly, it is ... We can consider ourselves lucky. After this exchange, he told us that he'd like to see us again. Perhaps he would like to share more information about what he may find about this merchant ... After some final words, our meeting came to an end.

Tired as we were of our recent experiences, we decided to head toward the inn again for the night until we overheard some enthusiasm coming from the Thundering Lizard. I leaned in to check what the commotion was all about, until I met the eyes of a(n) (in)famous man. He seemed to have recognized us as adventurers and gestured me closer to promote a book in his grasp. A promise of helpful information, a guide for the many threats of this land. And that, with such enthusiasm. I was impressed, but others in the group seem less excited about it. Both Gat and Jasper didn't seem to enjoy it much, but Smuck and myself sure were. With Arden's suggestion to ask of the flower, we were revealed to information about the flower that seemed most accurate.

I looked over to the group with a questioning gaze. The guide was sold for fifty gold in total, which price quickly reduced to forty-five. It seems like he made an attempt to truly sell it to us. Won't he get into trouble with the merchant princes and princesses, I wonder?

After that information was shared, Arden made it his mission to lower the price. This was after we all made a vote for and against the buying of the book. Though, I'll always say that even half truths still hold more value than having no information at all. If it is, however if false, then it may ... Be rather dangerous as well.

After Volo and Arden's exchange, we managed to obtain the book for forty-one gold instead. Not bad! And we'll still have enough for our travel! I feel like I have grown with these capable people by my side. It is an honor to fight alongside them.

May our stay at the inn be most pleasant. I could use a massage ..."

"With Taban defeated, Arden returns the pouch to Klahu to retrieve the debt from the gladiator. It did not contain gold nor silver, instead, the pouch has gems. Fifty in total, each with the value of 50 gold. With it, she pays us the reward for our assistance, paid with gems that make a total of 5 platinum. She thanked us for our assistance, when she is suddenly halted in place when Taban speaks up.

"The game was rigged, wasn't it?" He asked her, which she confirmed, indeed. "I knew it!" The man yells in return with defeat in his tone of voice. It was a dramatic sight, and I did feel sorry for the man. That is when he looked at us, and back to the ground again with a dramatic sign while the lady left the scene.

Deeply in doubt as Taban was when he was closest to the ground, he began to utter words that describe his desire to be a hero, to be a better person, like he once thought he would be. His gaze met ours again, and he asks us if there is hope left for him, if redemption is a path for him to take. Of course! There is! And that, we told him.

That is when Taban begged us to let him join us, he will do anything, just so that he can learn from our ways. I thought it was a great idea! And Smuck did ... Too ... Unfortunately by addressing himself as Grand Master Smuck with us as his mere Council members, an act that the gladiator did not seem to mind. Adding each the titles to our name, with the exception for Jasper who did not quite enjoy it. His enthusiasm, however, it was nice. We could use that positivity for our future travels, I have great expectations from this man!

< Taban joined the party! >

Exhausted from the previous struggle, we moved ourselves toward the Temple of Savras to take a brief rest near the entrance, accompanied with the lovely music from Arden to calm our senses. Once we caught our breath, we collectively entered the Temple of Savras for the answer to our previous question.

Little expectation I held with such an impossible seeming quest like ours, but I was positively surprised when Head priest Zitembe shared us his vision. He told us that the Soulmonger is held in a jungle city far to the south, enclosed by cliffs, crawling with snakes. black obelisk draped in vines. Which is quite descriptive, he could not share any more specifics than this, but this is a lot of direction. Dangers may be up ahead, and our travel will not be an easy one. Especially with the unfamiliar climate such as that of a jungle, and a curse that lurks and infects the land.

We did not leave the temple without another question asked, however, I needed to ensure that we would be there in time for the vision, but I also had curiosity for an extension of time. The priest warned us that if he must write it down, that this message can be read by ones who may not learn of it. It is best not to risk such fate for our information. We also ask much of this man with our requests, and I wish to respect that.

With that, our next question is left with this man:
"Does Nanny Pu'pu have malicious intentions toward us?"

She wishes to help us with the death curse, but what if she wishes us not to interfere? Can we trust this woman? Perhaps the Gods can give us direction. I thank you, Savras and your messengers.

We shared our thanks, and resumed with our next task. We visited the local bazaar to find a number of items for our travel, among that armor and tools for survival. It was quite fun to do as well! Then we decided to walk around to look for a small task to keep us occupied, when a young lady approached us. Her name is Xandala who has a small red dragon on her shoulder, named Summerwise. Despite Smuck's outburst and fears, she manages to tell her the reason for her approach.

She told us that the Zhentarim is looking for her father, who disappeared through the southern gates with a reptilian man. A man with an odd behaviorism to her that Xandala is suspicious about, as neither of the two has returned for few weeks. She does not, however, know what has caused her father to be wanted by the organization. The half elf lady eagerly wishes to find her father to ensure his safety.

Unfortunately, we do not yet have possession of the Charter of Exploration that allows us safe, legal passage to the jungle. But, she will remain in Port Nyanzaru for the time being, resting at the Kaya's house of Rest for when we have it in our possession. It may be, however, that she finds another group to travel with. We promised to seek her when we do return to Port Nyanzaru after our travel.

With that, our path resumed toward the Merchant's Ward, where a woman addressed me. She appears to be the only merchant without any wares, and gestures me closer for a talk.

She asked us to look for where her crate went, as her son did not return yet. Admitting that he is indeed of the unreliable sort, she cannot afford to remain available at the markets without wares to sell. She handed us a trinket of proof that will grant us passage at Warehouse 14, to pick up Crate #7 which contains food. The kind lady will reward us with 20 gold upon completion.

With no task at hand, we happily accepted her request. Smuck felt the urge to add that she'd have to name him Grand Master Smuck. Oddly enough, she did agree, but only once he succeeded. Arden on the other hand seemed suspicious about the case. I must admit that it is a little odd, but perhaps there is a cultural difference at play which we should not judge. With the trinket in our possession, we made haste toward our destination like the merchant requested us to.

Once there, we followed the many numbers of the warehouses to indeed find number 14. After the trinket was closely expected by the guards, the door was opened up, and we were allowed passage to find Crate 7. The warehouse had multiple floors with descending stairs. With the first two floors inspected, we did not find the crate, and resumed our search until Arden pointed out an odd, strong scent.

We paused in our steps and I turned toward the man who adds that he assumes that a crate is opened up. While I did not smell it myself, I did think it is odd that a crate would be open here.

Curiosity got the better of me, and with a torch in my hand, Arden led us closer toward the scent. There were odd sounds coming from the location, such as the shuffling noises coming from the distant crate, and the motion across the floor, along with an odd gasping sound.

Draw your weapons, there might be a thief!

"After we planned our day at the inn, we left the room to head outside and got surprised by the heavy rain that fell from the clouded sky above. As we observed the rain, Arden and Smuck began to discuss a deal among themselves, related to the gold they may receive in return for the magic item. The one we obtained from the Old city's beggar prince.

It was to earn at least 435 Gold, if Arden would succeed, Smuck would pay the difference in gold to Arden, if not, then Arden would pay the difference to Smuck. I thought it was rather questionable and assured that there is no rivalry involved within our teamwork. They told me that it is entirely friendly. Quite convincing at that. The two indeed made this deal after they finally confirmed the price. Arden is a master merchant, it will be interesting to witness his efforts. We do need the gold after all ...

Our travel resumed toward the mansion at the end of the large bridges, above the marketplaces. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the guard, and have made our request known to meet Wakanga O'tamu to discuss something of importance. And we were in luck, for there is a spot free after the current meeting. With the exchange of some kind words, the guard allows us to wait inside the waiting room, away from the heavy rain.

I enjoyed the music that is played and the gentle sounds of bird song. The other men spent time on copying the map, studying the dictionary we bought, or just by making themselves comfortable after drying.

After the visitors left, the merchant prince greeted us with a warm smile. I told him what we are here for and gestured to Arden to present Wakanga the magic item. He seems already familiar with it. A specialist, indeed.

As Arden resumed to suggest the value of the item, Wakanga made the first offer, but Smuck then added the negative aspects of the item. Something that Arden was not prepared for, and it interrupted his flow of business.

A scene came to being that confused both the merchant prince as well as myself. An argument at that. They had told me that it would be a friendly challenge, but words of hate and accusations were shared among the two.

I apologized to Wakanga for it, who verbally seems to doubt our teamwork. Then Smuck spoke up, and gave the merchant prince another reason to increase his offer from 330 to 400 Gold. This, by the mentioning of our successful efforts that affect his homeland and the surroundings. After that was mentioned, Wakanga seems interested where we obtained this gem, to which we answered his question. It came to a surprise that a person like Po holds onto something so valuable, and he could only assume the hard work we did to earn this.

The price was accepted. 400 gold was given in platinum, making a total of 40 platinum which I have been handed. It was something that Smuck wanted to, for reasons unknown. I happily hold onto it for everyone.

. . .

After it all came to an end, we left with an apology and a friendly wave for each of us to leave Wakanga's mansion.

We headed toward the first bridge, until I stopped in my tracks and turned toward the others. Once we removed ourselves far enough for no one to overhear us, I scolded both Smuck and Arden for that moment. Not only does it put us as a group to shame to an important contact, it also reveals that our teamwork may struggle and this man to lose faith in us.

To avoid this from happening again, I demanded the two to apologize to each other. Through multiple reminders, attempts and corrections, this eventually did work. The two took each other's hand for a friendly gesture after an apology and I am very proud of them! I knew they had it in them!

I was also told to secure the gold we have better, and hid it underneath my armor not to lose sight of it. The financial situation of Port Nyanzaru may cause the poor to prey on us. Best to be avoided.

Our next stop is to meet Klahu, but only after we ensured that this does not cross Po's will. This means we would need to meet this man to ask him.

Upon arrival at the Old City, Smuck approached a group of children, using their language to communicate that casted surprise on each their faces. We learned that they are on good terms, both Po and Klahu, however, I heard them mention that she is the "booker" and is quite scary. This did not seem to interfere with their judgment. They also offered us to bring us to her after a silver piece was given by Jasper. Four silver pieces are given by Smuck and a ride from Gat, one of our taller members. It was a joyful sight, the way the children enjoyed themselves.

Together, we met with Klahu, who sought shelter from the rain with a number of other people. We parted ways with the children and discussed the details of our task.

We are told that the one in great debt is a gambler, and that he is not an easy catch. Our task is to ensure that he does not escape, and violence may be expected, depending on the situation. She expects us to begin as soon as we are available, the soonest being ... Immediately.

After ensuring that this is indeed a threat to the law, the people, and that no false accusations are at play, we agreed to the task, and headed back toward the Merchant's Ward, Northeast of Port Nyanzaru with Klahu by our side. It was where we found the culprit.

After surrounding this man, who has the appearance of a gladiator, using a spear and shield with a height I have not seen before in this location. Tall, strong and ... Quite intimidating. He was drinking from a bottle, seeming mildly affected by the liquor. Unpredictable behavior is to be expected ...

Klahu announced herself after we moved in position to block his escape routes. To which Taban, our target, said he refuses to pay. The battle began when the first strike landed by Jasper. Immediately, Taban reached toward his weapon and shield and struck him down with a pair of attacks. This, with great ease. Jasper landed unconscious onto the ground, and the culprit ran away. Each of us made an attempt to stop him in his tracks, chasing after him as we did, placing an obstacle in his path, however ... Little mattered to this incredibly strong individual.

I called upon the divine protection of Helm to guide us toward a positive outcome in favor of the law and justice, and made haste toward him. He hurried toward a northern path after he recognized the offense from the south, to which I sprinted to block his path. Commanding him to stop, but he did not listen.

Soon, I was assisted by Jasper, who took the southern position. I held back the strikes that were aimed toward me with success, holding back even an attempt to rush past me.

Arden in the meanwhile used his magic to obtain the pouch from Taban's possession, I caught briefly with my eye, when the man was distracted. A great plan!

With Smuck joining our forces, we had hoped to corner him correctly, but the goblin in disguise was not a match to his immense strength. Easily, he was pushed away for a new path to clear up for this man to run to. Until he came to a stop, when he sought his person for something that may be lacking. Klahu returned the confusion a laugh, realizing the situation.

We chased after him and kept this man busy, striking non lethally to keep him from moving and face the consequences of his own actions. Another pair of strikes had Jasper land on his back again, recovered by Gat who passed him by and landed a strike onto the culprit.

All, until Taban could no longer move and surrendered. He dropped his weapon and lifted his hand. With his weapon kicked away from immediate reach, this man confirmed his surrender.

Out of breath as each of us was, we could finally smile at a good outcome in which none has to die. I feel terrible about Jasper however, the poor man ... Now, we await Klahu's orders. I cannot believe we managed ... Haha ... I am in such great company.

I thank you, Helm, for Your protective shield. It is by Your hand and might that I fight to bring balance in times of deceit and danger. Justice will prevail."

NOTE: 4 Silver must be returned to Smuck.

"After the battle came to an end, we found ourselves in the midst of the remains of the enemy, the reeking stench of the garbage, as well as the skeletal remains of the victims the enemy fed on. Unpleasant by appearance as well as by smell. We made an attempt to locate traces of what could be survivors, but unfortunately ... They have all passed away. Not a single toy or candy to be found either. How manipulative.

In total, we discovered the bodies of four adults, which may be the adventurers, and that of eight children. An unfortunate discovery, after Gat and I made a small grave for some, and took along a few of the skull as proof, along with the tentacle of a creature. Afterwards, we returned to the edge of the Refusal Pit to head toward the Old City.

The air was quite clear once we left the Refuse Pit, it was like a blessing from the divine. Upon arrival, we were greeted by two hooded individuals that gestured to us to follow them. We did, even with some insecurity on Arden's side. These brought us to a place with water and soap. "Wash." They said to us.

I cured Smuck from his disease through divine magic, and this very same moment, I had use the opportunity to force him and Arden to get washed. It was as if I had to wash two of my own children, ones I never had. It would seem like I was quite successful in my task! Haha! Oh, I am quite proud of this success! The two smell lovely now!

Afterwards they led us back to Pock-Marked Po. The head of the Old City. He told us that his men observed our struggle. He seems aware of our battle, but the specifics came with the evidence of both skulls and the magical illusion of the creature itself by Smuck's doing. It is quite impressive of a sight! Little idea that I had, that these things are even possible!

He thanked us in the name of the citizens of the Old City, however ... It came to his attention that we have interfered with their traditions at the Executioner's Run. The people demand a compensation for this disrespectful act, but Pock-Marked Po told us that we are forgiven in his name. Our bonds, however, are mildly damaged with the act. Perhaps we should decide more carefully about our future involvement in cases. This heroic act of ours will not compensate for all we may do. He has warned us that if we have a problem, that we must head to him to avoid future conflict. We must bear this in mind. Then he granted us the box with the magical gem as promised. One that bears a value we could only dream of possessing. May we make good use of it.

With the sky darkening above, we hurried back to the inn and had dinner. It was rich in flavor, I do not believe I ever had a meal this great before. Afterwards, we parted ways at the room, for Gat and I took a bath in addition, simply to relax after what happened. I left the other three behind with the gem and a warning not to do any foolish acts, such as to summon the elemental within the room.

When we returned after a delightful bathing time, we returned to the room which ... Seemed not to be of any worse condition. I may need to thank Jasper for this positive outcome. The final hours before bed, we enjoyed a collective study session. Practicing our speech in the foreign language. It was really fun! Arden was occupied with the map in the meanwhile. After writing some entries in my journal, we went to bed for morning to come.

. . .

That morning, we woke up with a pleasant surprise. Gat told us that he may have had a vision. A foreigner made contact to him, with the promise to help with the Death Curse. We are invited to meet this person at a hut, located at a plateau which we would find if we would follow the Soshenstar river. The name of this person is Nanny Pu'pu. She knows the weakness to the Death curse, it is said?

While many of us had our doubts, I shared my opinion. We must hold onto each clue we may have, for not all have evil intentions with their exchange for knowledge. While it is concerning that this person is familiar with our quest, it may be that the message has been passed of our deeds within Port Nyanzaru and beyond. It ... Makes me feel quite famous! Haha! What a nice feeling ... Like a hero of some sort, we can only dream of as small boys!

Our plan for the day is to make an appointment with the merchant prince Wakanga O'tamu to learn of the gold he is willing to offer us for the magic item. Perhaps our travel with a good cause will be much more secure like this. Afterwards, when noon will come, we should pay visit to the Temple of Savras to meet Head priest Zitembe and learn of his findings through visions. Perhaps a new question comes to mind, we could ask about the one Gat has received a vision from? Not only that, a mission awaits us at the Executioner's Run if we accept.

May Helm ward us with His might, clear our path and bless our Quest to restore the balance of both life and death."

"We evacuated Draza from the Executioner's Run after lending our help in cooperation with the large dinosaur in the distance that kept the public's eye occupied, and hurried toward the entrance toward Port Nyanzaru to blend in with the crowd. And then we met up from beyond it when we reunited our numbers for a talk. This, after we assured Draza his safety. He's been very fond of Gat, it was nice to see.

We learned from Draza that he lives with the person that begged us for help in exchange for a wealthy reward, Belyn, but the location is inside the Old City, to where Arden and Smuck said that the dinosaur went to. I did feel a sense of betrayal, but I believe that dinosaurs have their own responsibilities within this troubling world. I have no right to judge! But this is likely to draw the attention of the guards for the moment, a good number of guardsmen and strong fighters in kind ran past us for investigation.

With that in our collective minds, we have decided to part our paths for a moment, for Smuck and Jasper to give directions to where the dinosaur went, as we will make our way toward the inn room, instead. This, for the situation to ease up.

Once inside the room, without a reaction given by the innkeeper, Gat was so kind to hand the man some food and water for consumption and recovery from the recent event, while Arden resumed copying the map, and Smuck to ... Create something that I am unfamiliar with. After he and Jasper returned. And I have been writing in this journal. Haha, hello~!

Draza confirmed us, similarly to his friend or brother, that he is innocent, and happened to be at the wrong moment at the wrong place to receive a false judgment and arrest. It is thanks to Smuck and Jasper that we also learned that the assistance within the executioner's run is what could be considered "gray area", it is to be questioned. Port Nyanzaru has its rules, but the regions outside are no different. To each their own set of rules or laws that have their set of consequences for breaking them. It is a tradition, but those who make it out are considered free from their guilt. Thereby, Draza is officially freed. And he has been very thankful of that, enough to reveal understanding toward Smuck's racial identity.

. . .

A knock on the door has interrupted our moment of peace, but it was a welcome surprise. Upon opening the door, a man known by the name Lerek Dashlynd announced himself, also known as the mysterious "LD". He has given us the details of his quest, that lays south of Port Nyanzaru in the deep jungle.

He tells us that the people of Chult may have forgotten its location, however, himself and his employers have not. The locations are the Ruins of Nangalor and Orolunga. We can find mister Dashlynd in the inn, which he resumes to visit every two days. After having shared this information, he left his thanks and took his leave.

. . .

We left the hotel room to bring Draza back to his companion, Belyn, located at the Old City. By the time we have left the room, the situation seems calm again, in contrast to how it was before. It appears like what once was is now resolved. A delight! Very welcomed!

When we arrived at their ... House? (Shack) We met Belyn again and had the two men reunited again. Eagerly, they ran into each others arms. It was really nice to witness, and I could feel myself smiling proudly over our previous interference. However, this joy seems to have faded as soon as Belyn made eye contact with us. It was about the reward, with Smuck and Arden's louder tones of demands that seek for this reward, it had the poor man seeking for his stored valuables. Only for him to reveal a small chest with only 25 silver pieces inside. This little for two adults? It was concerning. I could not take it, and reached for a gold piece of my own. I'd want to ensure a safer outcome of their survival.

It seemed not to be the liking of them, neither that of the team, but I insisted! But it seems like Smuck's idea did work, we'd take a silver piece, and I place a golden one back. I said that I would, instead, hire them to let us meet Pock-Marked Po, which they accepted.

Moments later, we headed outside and observed the tense body language of the two when we moved within reach. They had us warned about the all seeing and hearing streets, from which mostly children came. A poor child approached Belyn and had them speak in whispers, but once a child returned, he learned that we are with too many. Belyn and Draza must take their leave, on which we agreed. Then a child approached me, using his fingers for pointing at himself and me to gesture me to follow. That, I did, along with the group.

Through confusing roads of familiar seeming streets, it led us toward what seemed like a house of higher value, but nowhere near what we would find within the city walls. At the entrance, there was a cloaked person that made no reaction toward us when we passed. Through whispers, our arrival has been announced, and instructions are passed through these as well. Mostly silence rules within this environment, until finally the elderly man turns to us with a greeting. This is the mighty Po, an elderly man who is in charge of the Old city. Positioned within a meditative position in the center of the room.

When all messages and gestures were shared among three children, including the one that led us inside, they left. He has asked us if the reason for our arrival is indeed for the quest, something I announced and confirmed. With no hesitation, Po explained to us the information he had.

Ten days ago, he tells us, there have been two events, divided over two days, in which children have gone missing near the "Refuse Pit". He has told us that children are hearing voices, before they go missing. A group of adventurers, much like us, has been sent there for investigation, but neither did they return. Whispers with promises to lure them closer. The group of adventurers was sent three days ago, and, as already written, has not returned since.

We must find clues of their whereabouts, and if we find them, to return them to safety. In return, he has shown us a small box in which a gemstone is positioned. But this is no ordinary gemstone, he has said. This is an Elemental Stone. One that may summon an Elemental from a different Plane for the owner to command. Valuable, he said, much like the children are valuable. This is true.

As for the location of this "Refuse Pit", we will be guided by a child. For more information, we are told to speak to the children and their parents. I do wonder if that will do us any good, even with a dictionary at hand.

With the time pressing and new visitors arriving, he needed us to take our leave, and that we did, with a child to act as our guide.

A moment later, we indeed did arrive at the "Refuse Pit", which name I finally understand by the stench of the eastern collection of garbage. The knowledge of having children play at this dangerous place is beyond me.

We decided to indeed explore this collection of unpleasant fate, however, not without preparation. Arden and I cast a spell with a short ritual, and during this, a voice reaches out to both of us. One with the promise of toys, if only we head forward. Without being affected by any urge, it remains only a suggestion. During this time, Smuck seems to have made contact to a citizen, who filled him in on a number of details. Both Arden and myself confessed that we heard the voice with the same technique to lure, and it seems to align with Smuck's findings.

A promise of sweets and/or toys.

This, an adult woman has said that the children have told her, but she, herself has never heard it. Smuck did believe it made the two of us children, which I am convinced is false! I have aged enough to be considered an adult! I am not of elven nature, but I must admit, I do miss my childhood toy at times.

This woman also confirmed that Po is indeed like a leader to the Old City, who uses the children as his ears and eyes. Belyn was not wrong, it seems.

Neither did it appear like my spell is without reason, when I detected the first thread to our upcoming journey through the garbage. A threat of disease, named "Sewer Plague", one that takes a duration for development. It will gradually weaken a person, until they can barely stand, however, it is not without recovery if a person rests well. (Reduces MAX HP/Con save during rest).

With this information shared, I had the pleasure of shaking hands with a ghostly presence! It was ... Quite scary, but interesting! (Unseen Servant)

. . .

We walked down the pit and had the Unseen Servant (I love the name, hahah!) clear our path, and ensure our safety through the movement of garbage. While we went deeper, each of us could hear the voice, and I could feel flashes of my imagination paint me idealizations of wooden swords for toys, and sweets for candy that aligns with promises. Again, no urge appears, but it seems to affect us mildly.

This, until a change in our viewpoint occurred, when bones became visible after the removal, of what we thought, is garbage. Bones that match the height of children and adults alike. A horrifying sight, but what else was worse, is the glimpse of a purple creature whose tentacles interfered with the progress of the servant and the enemy to make its appearance.

. . .

An unknown, purple tentacle monster became visible, and it rid the area of the Unseen Servant's hard work, only to notice us. This is when we drew our blade and the battle began.

Upon the distance it closed, I detected its poisonous nature, and warned the men with me, before I made haste toward it, with a spell to grant me protection. Their safety is of higher importance!

Our enemy was tough, and strong, but with our combined forces, each with the fire-y strikes of Smuck, the skillful thoughts put in motion by Jasper, the holy offense of Gat, and that of musical nature from Arden, the five of ours' strength combined brought it to the ground. Myself included. I fear no death, but I fear defeat in the eyes of those who believe in me, and the safety, that I offer, for those who cannot bear its offensive strikes, to rid them of faith.

The hit from Smuck's effective healing shook me awake. I have not often felt this alive. I thank my friends in arms, may this enemy be the last and only one that lurks among these piles of dirt."
