When I entered the miner town, Phandalin, I came across two interesting looking individuals. One of them was a young thief with a raccoon on his shoulder, a genasi named William, or Steven. (Kyndel) What ever his name may be, it changes upon each request. The one chasing him was named Hemlock, a tiefling woman who had a bit of a mischievous touch of her own.

She claimed that the boy robbed her from her money after he did a card reading/fortune-telling for her and got away. In an attempt to catch the boy, he used a type of magic to reduce my chances but instead, he was caught by the guards who then urged each of us, the involved, to follow him to the town hall to deal with the specifics of the robbery.

Once there, we spoke to the guard captain, a man of wise words and a request to make. As soon as the money was returned to the owner and the culprit was gagged, the situation seemed fine, however, the young thief had a price to pay. He will either be held a prisoner in Neverwinter or forced to participate in a dangerous mission in the south-western regions.

They are eager for certain specialists to take care of the job. A performer, master of magic and a master of disguise. While I fit none of the criteria, the man turned to me and requested me to keep an eye on the boy in exchange for a reward. With no job at hand at the moment, I felt naturally urged to agree. It seems like a dangerous job that I wouldn't send an inexperienced adventurer to.

Not much later, we were accompanied by two curious individuals. A small Kobold by the name Sida and his guardian, Sister Yolantha. The two were also requested to join the quest to put an end to the struggle. With little information given, we are bound to meet the unknown.

We took a brief break at the StoneHill inn for a short meal, Mr. Toblen Stonehill was so kind to serve us the luxury of food for a generous 1 silver piece. With lady Hemlock starving, I couldn't help but to grant her a meal on my costs in addition. (-2 silver)

Once we set foot outside the borders of the mining town, we traveled by Sister Yolantha's wise traveling instructions. However, our travel wasn't the safest, we encountered a large, white dragon who had its gaze resting on us. Threatening us to leave its territory. I tried to negotiate with the creature, but it was too late. Recognizing the little chances we had to make the run, I stepped forth and held my ground to get the dragon's attention, rather than letting it get to my new companions.

Sida, the curious little kobold, also wanted to protect us, I believe. He moved up close to the dragon and tried to communicate with it as well. I couldn't overhear what he said well, but it sounded like he asked them if they were their parent or not. Only moments later, I saw the dragon turn to me, releasing its breath on us, freezing us stuck to the ground which bit through the open spaces of my armor, burning my skin. I was unable to get out and gradually felt myself weakening.

. . .

What felt like moments later, I found myself in a dark space, with a gentle campfire and a caring expression of the woman I have only just met. Sister Yolantha. The boy used his magical heat to assist my natural recovery. It was difficult to move, even to speak, but when I managed, I noticed that the others were safe. I could only smile to myself, seeing how hard they must have worked to get me in a safe environment, protecting each from even a wolf attack. I am blessed to be with these hardworking folk, they have saved my life. The boy even scolded me for putting myself in danger, but I assured him that if I hadn't, then their chances of survival would be troubled more than that of my sacrifice.

I hope I didn't upset them. My sacrifice wasn't in vain, neither will it ever be. They are good people with hearts of gold when the situation demands it. Heartwarming. Now I do owe them all a meal. Well, the food is on me.

MISSION 01:

Location
: Gnomengarde, a tunnel network located at the Sword Mountains. Southeast of Phandalin.

Details: The gnomes are requesting help from a magic expert, and an expert at performance and/or disguise. Specifics are not mentioned.

The relationship between Phandalin and Gnomengarde is good, however the gnomes are secretive, strange folk according to the innkeeper. Toblen Stonehill tells us that when travelers visit Gnomengarde, they encounter trouble. He warned us about the gnomes being of mischievous nature. There may also be some interference with spell casting due to some "wild casting". The flow of magic seems off and there may be consequences when casting a spell, such as an unintended reaction or an entirely different spell will be cast instead. We must take caution.
