Session #8: Strategy
Jan. 14th, 2024 07:09 pm After giving the druids the message of the tabaxi, whose name is Tibirin, we witnessed surprise from all the gazes that surrounded us. It was not very unusual for me to be watched with such curiosity, but it seemed more like distress. Not surprisingly, they may have been able to watch us fight in those troubled surroundings. It was only when the divine warrior had been called to the field of nightmares, when the tables turned in our favor. He, who has given us strength to fight.
With the return, we realized that this was a mere mental process. Our physical appearances had no such damage from the battle, but our spells powers have depleted if used in combat. It seemed like it was more than just a mental simulation, a battle against fear.
A sheet of paper was close to us, as if misplaced by a strong wind, and briefly afterwards collected by the gentle lady, Sade. She was nervous about it, by the looks of her body language when she placed it back inside a book, hiding it from view. When I noticed it, I saw the druid writings surrounding a sketch portrait of the tabaxi which we spoke to. He said that it's nice to be remembered, but what meaning does it hold? Is he no longer existing? I was confused not to find the gentleman anywhere among the people.
After a brief discussion between the arch druid and Sade, we were dismissed from our positions and guided back to the tree house to await further instructions. There, we had a moment to ourselves to relax after what happened. After about an hour, a message was given that the arch druid wished to see us, and we didn't want to keep the wise man waiting. With our private guide to take us where the man is, we made it to that destination safely.
We were informed that Sade has made a terrible mistake, an act that goes against their ways of the druid, for which she must be punished. Sister Yolantha requested him not to make it as bad and with Kyndel's cooperation, they made sure to convince the man to lessen the punishment for her doings. After all, it is for a greater good. The dragon concerns all the surrounding regions, and he must be defeated.
The elder also let us know that the druids, including Sade cannot assist us in this battle. They have their own battle to fight to maintain a balance between their territory and that of the feywild. It is the very reason why travelers demand a guide to take them there safely. He explained to us that it may otherwise expand, which will cause great dangers to travelers who end up entirely lost in unknown surroundings.
There was, however, something that he could give to assist us in the battle. He reached out to us with a magic arrow and let the spirits decide their owner. The arrow pointed at Sidah and with it, he was given a bow. Along with that, each of us, but Kyndel (by choice), was given a coat to protect us from the temperature of the mountains and a spell scroll. We have given our thanks and with that, our conversation came to an end. He allowed us another night in safety to restore our strength.
We returned to the place of our stay, accepting the offer that was made to us. On my way back, the guide and I discussed the pleasure of flying and all that comes with it. It's not my first time that I've been so excited by something, but this is something I'd love to try! It's such a shame that it seems exclusive to druids who have undergone many years of training. I really do wonder if I can afford the amount of years without being able to offer a helping hand to the men and women that seek for a savior in their darkest times. It was fun to talk about it, anyway!
Kyndel made me an offer, he can make it work, he said, but for that, I must pay up a fine amount of gold. It is true, some desires do come at a cost ...
After a brief discussion about our tactics to put to use when we'll infiltrate the castle, the group seems a little dismissive and skeptical. It is because Sidah wishes to speak to the dragon, who seemingly knows more about his story, but knowing the brutal and impulsive nature of the dragon, these plans don't seem like they were his.
To me, he seems more like a war general, one that commands the kobolds, but who is not the mastermind of these. There must be someone more, someone, we believe, may be a shaman of some sort. That person, they may have cursed Sidah as well to use him as a scout to explore the town of Phandalin. It's a wise plan, but clearly of evil nature. We have fought group by group who were driven away from their homes and, violently, they had to make room for their new home at the cost of that of others. Why, I wonder?
The answers must lay in the Aspire peak hold, where the dragon is present. May we put the evil to rest for the days of peace to come.
We split up after a brief talk, Sidah and I went to see how Sade was doing. We were pointed in the direction of a library, but not allowed to enter. A friendly druid near the door informed us that she is doing well and that they are certain that the punishment won't be severe. They need Sade, she appears very precious to the people. If we want to speak to her, then we can do so in the morning. Sade, she will be our guide on our way back.
With that earned knowledge, Sidah and I returned.
